Best way to launch & race a 400EX?
#1
Guys, I have a buddy (400EX) that wants to race. I know his is totally stock so I might just have a chance beating him based on other posts I've read here.
What tips can you offer as far a launching off of the line, etc...What's the "best" technique for the Prairie?
If I hit WOT off of the line I get tremendous wheel spin unless I'm on pavement (or) asphalt > then I'll just flip over.
P.S. I plan to "air up" my tires before the drag race so I have less rolling resistance.

I got a 360 and i raced my buddys 300ex and it has a few mods . i find the best way to pull off the line is to hold the front brakes on and rev the bike up till it almost starts to move then let the brakes off. good luck wit yer race

I raced a 400ex with pipe, filter, jetting combo during our last snow storm here. We raced down the highway(Illegal, yes) for about 6 miles, the highway was plowed so traction was excellent. I still ran in 4WD, and got 64mph on the speedo, is this about right? More importantly I smoked him off the line and for a good majority of the race, he did finally reel me in a couple miles down the highway, but not by much, at the end he was only a couple quads ahead of me and figure he probably was only pulling about 3-6 mph more than I was.... Hopefully a CDI will change the results next time!

"Take the bars off and put them on a YFZ, then get on, that's the best way".
