problem with ignition system. When you turn key on spark plug fires, as you hold in start button and engine turns over
there is no fire, when you release start button, plug will fire? If you mess with it for a minute or two it will line out and start firing normal.
after it starts it runs fine does not miss or shut down. have checked all wires according to manual everything appears to fall within
specs.

 

hmm thats different... I know that for starting the spark is sometimes advanced (firing closer to top-dead-center of the stroke) I dont know if that is the case with the bayou... Will be getting my manual this week and will pour over it and see if I cant find an answer for you..

 

Your problem is in the CDI not the wiring.There is what is called a start and run modes in the CDI that fire the plug.One for starting and one for run mode.What is going on is the one for start mode does not always work.In short what you need to do is replace the CDI.
