#1
ok this is a stupid question but all of us that are fond of the lakota sport know that the air intake system is huge on that thing and it confuses me so damn much. so my ? is , where is the air box, there are like 3 other black odd shaped things connected to the air system. I need to know this because i will be ordering a k&n air filter and i have absolutley no clue were to put it.
appriciate it

Ah, ok
This is a simple thing that should take you only 5 minutes.
While sitting on the Lakota, the airbox cover is on the left side near your leg.
You should see a odd shaped plastic like case. This is the air box.
1. Take off two black screws that are above the box on the plastic (Be gentle, these screws strip)
2. Ounce the Black screws are off, you should see 2 more regular screws behind them. Now you are looking at the airbox cover with 4 screws.....remove all of these.
3. There will be a plastic guard thing infront of the filter, just pull that off and then pull the stock filter off. Notice how the filter is positioned into the box, you want to put the new one in the same way.
4. Take your new K @ N filter, dampen it in engine oil ( same kind u use for the trans) then put it in the box like the stock was.
5. Put the plastic guard on
6. Put the 4 screws back on
7. Put your 2 black screws back on
And your done!
you will notice some big power increase over stock

Hey clover,
Can I ask you a few questions?
What size Razrs are you running?
Are they lighter then the stock tires....
do you like the traction?
how much power difference does the pipe, jet kit and clutch kit make over stock?
where did you get the handle bars>?..
and do you have any pictures...
sry if this is alot but Im curious to know from an owner who has razrs on his bike
thanks
~CHRIS~

we're running 20-11-10 on the rear and 22-8-10 on the front,i really don't like the 8 inch width on the front,so if you can find a 7 it would be a good set up and you get alot better traction,so if you like to sling rocks and dust its a great tire.the tires are like a little lighter, but if you want to save weight,it would be the aluminum wheels will save alot of weight. We also have a stock lakota and the modified one runs away from the stock one and you'll have a whole lot better throttle response.I got my handlebars from a local dealer.and i will try to get pics a soon as my sis brings her camera down in a few days hopefully.

Hey bigchris, we are doing the same mods I've already got the mojave carb34mm and will be installing the carb and kg clutch kit in about 2 weeks. I've got the douglas wheels and am hoping to get the razor tires (my bday is next week, so if i get them then cool, and if not i'll order them my damn self) I'm getting the 23x7x10 in the front and 20x11x10 on the rear.
I recommend the race plastics, they look really cool. Interested in seeing yours in orange, i've got the black. So now if I ever have any questions, at least i know there will soon be another with similar mods. good luck on your bike

Yup,
I'm like one of the few Lakota owners with no engine mods....
The thing is, at first I dont know if it'd be better to just get a plain faster quad, but the thing is, thats easier said then done. If the lakota was a 250...they yeah, but it has a little bit more juice, and can run with the bigger boys if played with right. So ya I plan on doing a lot with her. I'm thinking Razrs on some kind of aluminum rims will be comming first.....and I'll have pictures of her with those..then I think engine mods are the next thing.
thanks to every1 who cares!

Honestly, I would NOT dampen the filter with the motor oil. That is 10w-30 or so. Not the same thing as filter oil. Be very cautious doing that.
Also, you may want to go to the atvconnection home page and type in "lakota" in the search field. It'll bring up an article that they did on the Lakota. It's basically the same thing as most of us have done with ours. It's good reading and may answer some questions that you have regarding. I don't agree with their tire selection, but you'll get an idea of the performance increases.
