K&N vs. Twin Air. Which has more flow?
#1
Does anybody know if K&N has more air flow than TwinAir?
I have a Twin Air air filter and 6 uni vents. Nyroc muffler mod with six 1/2" holes. K&N jet kit with needle in 5th notch. I'm still rich. Going to 4th notch causes caughing, too lean. Man these Prairie 650's are touchy. I'm just looking for a little more air flow. Any suggestions?

Dont get the K&N filter. Get rid of the unifilters and get a napa hose or a diamondG snorkle. Er, maybe you have a good snorkle I dunno. The unifilters pick up heat from the CVT vents.
The needles aren't that touchy. You can fine tune them with the washers that come in the kit (placed before or after the needle shoulder)
.
You are possibly confusing rich on jets with rich with needles. Put that needle back on 5. Then go do plug reads: run at 1/2 to 3/4 throttle for a while. Kill motor before letting off the gas. Then adjust mains depending on the plug read (not the needles).
You really only need to adjust the needles based on seat of pants. Bogging when stabbing gas when hot = rich needles. Coughing too much when stabbing throttle means too lean on the needes (should cough cold, but never when halfway warm). Adjust mixture screws again after moving needles. Don't ever just turn the screws, adjust each one (1/4 past first fastest idle method).
Your next step is a new CDI, or degree key.
After that high comp pistons, FST cam, port and polish.
