Bayou 185
#1
Just acquired a 1988 Bayou 185 for my son (our 1st 4 wheeler). It has no dipstick and not being that knowledgeable about these things I don't understand how to check the oil and with no manual don't know how much it should have in it. Any help would be appreciated. Also need some help with idle adjustment. It won't idle but sputters & dies.

Hello,
We have also recently aquired a 1988 Kawasaki Bayou and have had simular problems. The four wheeler contains 1.7 quarts of oil and ours doesnt have a dip stick either, on the right side on the crankcase though there should be a plug for you to check the oil if you can touch the oil with your pinkie you should be alright just make sure the oil looks pretty good. Now with the idle, on the top of the carburator where the throttle cable enters there is a rubber boot, pull this boot back and there is a nut, loosten the nut cable end screws out idles up the motor, set where you want it tighten the nut back up you got it.If motor will not run,( if you cannot keep it running) loosen nut and adjust cable end about half way then tighten nut and see if this will keep it running long enough for you to adjust your idle.
Good Luck and hope this helps!

Your welcome,
No we've not really had much problems, mostly all weve needed is carburator parts, but here is a website with alot of parts diagrams and tells places to purchase parts Click Here! Did you get yours running? Good Luck
