what is the stock hp for a tecate? diffrent for diffrent years? powervalve diffrence?

 

The 1987 Tecate 4 came with 43 horses stock.

 

Then hpw come there not as popular as the 250r and the lt ?

 

Sounds a little high, even if your talking at the crank. Definitely not RWHP.

 

I think thats the crank number. They werent as popular because there were fewer aftermarket parts availible and they did not handle as well as the other 250 spec quads.

 

I have read that the 88 was rated at 42 hp. Not sure what they had but I had an 88 back in the mid 90's and it was very fast. It would wheelie in all 6 gears on the pavement.

Its not over 40hp, that is pretty funny though. Considering the LT500 made about or a lil under 50hp. and a 250 can make 43. . . . .
but yea, the tecates are nice quads but they have no aftermarket and handle like a shoping cart. their nice in a line but lt's and r's whop their a$$ in every catagory. ( yes dragging )
