after many miles and wheelies i have come to the conclosion that i have a defective cdi or all it is is just a bigger hol shot module! yes it got rid of the revers limeter, yes i gaind a 'little" top speed. But my stock cdi pulls just as hard through mid and top end as this dyna does. And wheelies ALOT better. from a dead stop in hi they both will flip me at half throttel but at 5-10 mph if i hit wot with my stock cdi i can bring up the front end and hold it there till about 35 mph, with the dyna i cant even get the front end off the ground at any thing above 6 mph. WHAT GIVES??...... P.S my jetting is not off.

Tommyboy,
Sorry to hear that you are not pleased with the performance of your Dyna cdi. I have done timed tests at 100' and 300' with mine and I only gained about 1/2 quad length improvement over the original DG holeshot module. If this was the only difference that I noticed with the Dyna cdi, I would be upset.
However, I do think think my Dyna gives me a noticeable improvement in throttle response in the mid to top rpm range. Before the Dyna, my quad would pull hard from 0 to 50 mph and then very SLOWLY climb to top-speed. Now with the Dyna, my quad pulls hard from 0 to top-speed (and my top-speed is also 3 mph higher than before). B/c I now compete in XC races, I think this added benefit is worth the money IMO.
Happy trails...

mikeyboyesq... I dont even have a hole shot on my stock cdi... i went from a compleatly stock P650 "with black spring" to a dyna cdi 650 and my stock cdi pulls just as hard as the dyna. my stock even wheelies easyer... i dunno.. maby i got a soure aple or something, my dad also had a P 650 and could alway take me by 2 quad lenghts in 300 ft due to me weighing more.. this week end ill race him with the dyna in and see how that turns out..

When I purchased my p700 it was super with stock tires but when I installed my ITP589 it was slower than my Sportsman700 then I installed a clutch kit and it was OK but I was unable to pop a wheelie(I carry about 3 gallons of fuel on the front rack) then I installed a module, It was SCARRY!! for take off I was able to wheelie with all my gear on the front rack and me on the air filter cover (255lb) but at mid range I was having all kind of power loss, skipping and boging. I took the module off and it fix the problem!! Now I have a dyna CDI and I love it , it is not as powerfull as the module from dead stop(less dangerous!!) but it is constant all the way up to top speed. I gained about 5km/h on top speed and my jetting is not wright, I am waiting on a dynojet kit!! I love the CDI
But I ordered one for my friend p650 2002 and he said the same thing as you, the stock CDI is better. He sold his CDI to another guy and this guy call me to return the CDI he find the same thing, the stock CDI is better for take off and top end. We are planning to do some testing with the stock and dyna CDI on the same road.
I will keep you informed

I jus got back from doing some timed rins with the dyna and stock cdi... on the wat up there i hut a straght strech of road goin up hill and punched it with stock cdi and hit 51mph, i then turned around and done the same thing with the dyna and hit an amazing 51mph. the exact same. after getting to the drag strip i did runs at about 300ft... with the stock my best time was 9.43..... with the dyna my best time was 9.00 even..... does any one know how many quad lenghts the differance is?.. my buddy was also there to time me and was able to get 8.87 with the stock cdi, better then i did with the dyna... P.s he is also about 100 lbs lighter than me.

What you have could be a bad unit? Just call Dyna and send it back and have them test it. Who knows? and if nothings wrong with it and your still not happy maybe they will give you a refund? Riding it up a hill and doing a few drags isn't really a good test because its only going to be a bit better on a Stock Quad~IMO. Plus is your quad running right? on some other Post didnt I read you having some problems? The Dyna CDI is not a magic box? And sometime on the form People make things Sound better then they really are! and some of them just might even get a few items for free to chat it up?~lol. Not to get technical (Not that I could~LOL) but all the CDI does is advance the timing a bit helping the engine deliver a little more power through out the power band. And for me it pulls much harder on the top end. It also seems to help the quad run cooler, or where ALL screwed because it stops the fan from coming on when its suppost TOO!?-LOL. Plus I like going fast in reverse! I know a few riders that dont have this product and can hang with the fastest and most tricked out Quads, On a Stock Machine. Maybe you would be better off with a slip on exhaust? Same price and maybe more noticeable power? or just leaving it Stock? But the Dyna CDI I have is not crap and I feel it was worth the price so far. ~coop
