Default DYNO cdi return policy????

I spoke with Scott on 5-11-04 about his return policy and the following is the information I was able to obtain from him. The end of April I received my new cdi. A few days later I called Scott pertaining to the kickback I was getting on my 700 Prairie. He told me to do what he has told everyone else to do on these posts, and the battery and all electrical connections checked out OK. Unfortunatly 5-1-04 a hard kickback caused my starter to make loud marble like grinding noises on every start with the dyno or stock cdi.I sent the dyno back to Scott and took atv to dealer.Dealer called back said starter was damaged and it took out two teeth on the large flywheel gear.NOT GOOD NEWS!!!! They had to split the motor case to find the teeth. This was a $1100.00 REPAIR BILL and it was the first time they heard of this happening. I was lucky this time but if it were to happen again I may be liable.I called Scott to inform him on what happened. He said he has only received about 4 or 5 cdi's back so in his mind there aren't really any problems with the dyno cdi. I have to agree with him,if all people are doing is complaining and not sending them back, nothing is going to be done about these defective cdi's. This is the part where I disagree with Scott. I ask him that I would perfer him to keep my defective cdi and issue me a refund. He said give him a chance to troubleshoot it and he would send me out another cdi.I said I can not take the chance of this happening again so I'd like a refund. He said that is not an option at this time.WOW I never expected that as my final answer. So as to prevent any further argument I told him to send me out another. Now after reading more updated post it appears it may be months before I receive a new one. I think Scott is nice person and means well but I also think he is very flustrated with the problems people are having with this cdi. But thats no excuse to refuse a customer a refund due to a defective product. Scott, I don't need you to troubleshoot my CDI. I know what it did to my machine, and
I continue to read about the problems other people are having with it. I wish you would reconsider your return policy when actual damage is caused to a machine by your product. I'm well aware of the credit card policy about buying defective products, that was mentioned in an earlier post. I just hope that I nor anyone else has to push this issue. I will try and keep you all updated on this issue. Later.....

4x4fib, that is a professional post.

Maybe Dyna will step up to the plate and admit some liability? I noticed Scott V. stopped posting after acusing people of "engaging in idle and unsubstantiated speculation." Finding damaged engine parts doesn't sound very idle or unsubstantiated to me?

Good luck with them.

Thanks for bringing this issue up 4x4fib. Good reading material and appears too be a indicator of Dyna's customer service. Sounds like Dyna started advancing timing too early in this particular model.

Good post;

If I was you I'd be mad at two people, 1. dyna, not a good policy, especially when there is a problem.

2. your dealer for chargeing $1100.00 for spliting the cases, last I knew the flywheel was out side the cases.

Default DYNO cdi return policy????

There is an oil passage just under the flywheel on the side of the case
My guess is the dealer split the case to find the missing teeth
4x4 got lucky it didnt cause severe engine damage

Default DYNO cdi return policy????

I was told the same by Scott. I just ignored him and sent my cdi back anyway with a tracking number and insured. I asked for a full refund in my letter and stated the reasons why. Im sure I will have to dispute the charge with my credit card and the credit card company said it was fine and that I could do that based on the merchandise was defective when I recieved it. Check out my additional comments in the "kickback post".

I will get a refund, one way or another.

Default DYNO cdi return policy????

I just copied and pasted this from the other post. That way you dont have to go looking for it. I also think Dynatek is going to loose business with this issue and refusing to give refunds. Below is what I copied.

I have seen no gains what so ever with my cdi. Only gains I did see was with the test cdi that nyroc has now, it did give me a whopping 2 mph more on top end. To be honest about it I will rarely ever see that top end in normal riding. Nyroc and I did test with and without my Dyna cdi against his test cdi last weekend at a 300' drag strip. The outcome was very similar each time we ran. Sometimes I would be out in front just a bit and then he would and sometimes we would be even. It didnt matter what cdi I had in. The Kickback is getting worse with mine also.

For the reasons above, "no power increase" and "kickback" Im sending mine back today. Im still trying to decide if I should just ask for a refund or let them test it. Trouble is when they do test it and it proves to be defective it will be until June before I get a replacement cdi. I think thats BS. I will probably write them and ask for a full refund or if they cant do that I will dispute the charges under "defective merchandise" with the credit card company.

For all who used a credit card you can do this. I have already talked with my credit card company and you can dispute charges and get refunds if a product is proven to be defective or damaged upon delivery even though the seller doesnt have a refund policy. The kickback issue is a sure sign of defective merchandise. I have ALL THESE POST to prove it is a problem also if I need evidence.

Im gonna just get my money back and buy the DG3.

Default DYNO cdi return policy????

Hi Current Dyno CDI Owners. Here is my first update I have for you. Wouldn't you know it, I just sent this e-mail out to everyone and 11:00 today , UPS drops off a package to me from Dynotech. Normally one would be happy to receive this, but I am not. I was hoping Scott would have read my post before sending me a replacement and just refund my money. Scott, I do thank you for the fast turnaround, but my feelings are still the same, I do not want this product. I hope you understand that I am still alittle gun-shy on trying it out because of what had happened to my machine. I didn't want to open the package but I had to hoping to find a letter of explanation of what was wrong with my first CDI. There was not a note just a piece of paper saying replacement CDI, no charge. The CDI is in a sealed plastic bag which I did not open. This may be my loss because this could turn out to be a CDI that some people have and have used for many miles and not had a single problem, just smiles. I will say it is hard for me not to accept this knowing the performance increase I felt when using the first CDI I ordered.
