Default Offset Key questions

I talked to Mike Penland and he said to not install the offset key if you have the High Lifter module installed. I don't understand this. If the max timing on the stock CDI is 28 deg, then a 4 deg key would only get it to 32 deg max. Looks to me like this would have to help. Can anybody explain to me why Mike would say that it doesn't help? I have read this form where he has told other people the same thing.

In searching a few months ago I ran across some really good instructions with pictures on installing the offset key, but can't find them now. Guess I should have book marked the page. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Default Offset Key questions

Neither of my original questions have been answered. IMO, Nyroc has the best prairie site on the web, but I didn't find instructions on changing the offset key. He talks about it several times, but doesn't go into details on changing it.

Does anybody want to take a crack as to why Mike P. would be telling folks with the HL module to NOT install the offset key?

Another comment on the offset key... the one Mike P. sells just has a notch cut out in it. If I would have known this I would have done it myself. I thought I would be getting a true offset key since I paid $10 for a $1 key.

I wouldn't install a Penland Bros Racing Timing Key if you gave it to me for free and Paid me to use it!
That thing is total JUNK.
Anyone who thinks the key from them is a good part smokes crack.
I have documented pics of this joke of a offset key on kawieriders site.
Do a search for Penland and under my name you'll see the thread.
This site won't let me link to it for some stupid reason.
