CONGRATULATIONS!!! ~You guys on a FIRST Place Finish, On one of the GNCC's toughest tracks!? Check this out! I picked my first daughters month and year 498 as my number, She's 6 years old and I finished 6th!~lol Why didn't I pick my 2nd Daughter dates? She was born in 02! Maybe I could have come in second to you all?~LOL. Well, where should I start? OK the Start! On the line Im one quad away from Kilbey on my right and about 9 quads down a slight hill to my left is Far. Even those I had never done a dead start before I got off pretty good, And what a BLAST just being on that line as 15 Rider's gave it there ALL gunning for that first turn! Coming into the first turn to my left just ahead of me was Kilbey and a Blue Grizzly, I thought I might even be the 3rd guy around! But out of no where it seemed from the corner of my eyes I see Far followed by an Orange Grizzly! both seeming to blow by me~LOL. Im not sure what happened after that?~lol And where exactly I was? I think I ended up 4th or 5th around? The pace was SUPER fast and I was giving my quad all she had going Bonsai for the first 10 mins! but still couldn't seem to hang! Cant wait to see the Photos!! and would love to hear what Far tells you all? Kilbey was smashed into and was out for a while, So this was definitely your all's day! You gotta put that Prairie in the next GNCC! I would love to see a head to head with Kilbey and Far! The course was rough to say the least! And I lost my 4 wheel drive sometime during the first lap? and she was stuck in 2 wheel drive? Any ideas prairiewrench? Im sure I must have switched back and forth a few times going too fast? My belt also screamed when I would dropped down from going all out?( Loose?) Or was my Quad saying CHRIS! what are you doing to me?~LOL. I held in there for as long as I could but by the middle of the first lap I was starting to feel like I shot my load~LOL! Also realizing my goal of just finishing!~lol. I dialed back big time, also stopping to check my quad and catch my breath~LOL. I got passed by a few in my class somewhere towards the end of the first lap. I got a bit of a second wind and caught a few on my 2nd and 3rd lap but that's about it. I had a good time and thought for my first ever quad race I didn't do to bad. I beat Kilbey Also! I know some guys that have been racing for years that haven't done that!~lol. Hey even if he had problems a race is a race!~LOL. Not sure If I will to another one anytime soon those?~lol~ But If I do? I think I will logged in A LOT more saddle time before hand,, Maybe hit a few hairscrambles first,, do some kind of cardo work out? oh and lets not forget talk to Mickey about a BIG BORE kit and some After-market shocks?~lol. My stock shocks let me feel a lot more of rausch creek than I needed too!~lol. My Body is telling me that today!~lol. Im glad I got to experience a GNCC event and took your advice on attending PW, Instead of riding with the boyz! It was FuN to be a part of.. ~coop

I got the Bumper from Scott Kilbey, A friend of his Marcus took over an ATV shop down in West Virginia, They are custom making the bumpers along with just about anything else you need. I will give you the shops phone number if you PM me. But it is a racing bumper so if you wanna run a winch forget about it. ~~~One thing also I forgot to mention Penland, Kilbey, Marcus, Doug and the Guys at the TEAM GREEN trailer where all VERY helpful. (Even those the Team Green Tech hooked up my kill switch wrong?!~LOL) They made me feel like part of the gang and are a good group of People! Definately Winners! The hospitality almost makes me wanna Race the next one!

Congradulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm glad to hear you did so well!
Have you figured out the 4x4 issue? I know I have had 3 of the Prairies that did something simular here,,, it turned out to be the main fuse connection. All I did was take the connection apart and remove the fuse, put some grease on the connections and put them back together and the 4x4 worked fine after that. The main fuse is separate from the fuse box.
If you get any good pics from the race I'd love to see them. Oh,,, and mine will be at more races and we are thinking about taking 1 or 2 of the Prairies from here to the GNCC race in July!!!! The bad thing for us here in Iowa is that all the races are soooo far away!!!!!

The racing was great to watch. I was pitting for some friends in the morning race and helped Borich in the afternoon. It seemed really rocky out there. I will also post some pics once I get around to it. I also had the privledge of having Penland, Kilby and Gonzalous stay at my house friday. It was great hanging out with them and just asking them questions. They were all very nice and would answer about everything I asked them. I really wanted to get some riding in with them on friday but after getting organized at the track and eating it was getting late. After looking over their prairies the item I liked the most was the carbon airbox cover.

MarylandATV,
Congrads on conquering your first GNCC! I did my first GNCC last January and had a blast racing v. Mike Penland in the stock utility class (this was before I did my motor mods of course). Your write up brought back some fond memories. So exactly where did you place in your class? I only got 10th out of 15 when I raced in January, but my goal was (like you) just to finish it in one piece. I bet you will be sore today! hehe
So you know Marcus too? Small world! I met him and another WV guy (named Jack Ramsey who races a P700) at the GNCC in January. I have since kept in touch with Jack and he told me about him and Marcus buying the ATV shop in WV. In fact, I called Marcus about 4 weeks ago and spoke to him to get prices on tires for my P650. Both Marcus and Jack are very good guys!
Happy trails...

That carbon airbox cover does look nice! I might have to get one of them someday myself. I see your from Shamokin, Pennsylvania! that's one of my regular riding areas! If you ever wanna hook up sometime let me know? I ride just about everyother weekend up there covering Shamokin, Ashland, Minnersville, Shenandoah, Frackville, Hazelton etc. etc. and have loops connecting all of them towns just to name a few! Check out my web Site Im sure you may have even ridden most of what I know Maybe more?
Congratulations to you also MentalState!!
A buddy of mine Caleb Bailey in 4 stroke stock wrecked and then was run over! He was flown to the Hospital and is OK! I think there was a Pro Rider also taken away! It was a TOUGH race and just finishing and being part of the ACTION is a Victory!

Maryland,
6th place is great! You should be proud of that finish.
Yep, those GNCC races are definitely hard on the quads. In my January GNCC, I dented/ruined 1 front C-series rim, destroyed the stock front skid plate, tore a rear fender plastic piece and had a football-sized dent in my rear plastic fender! Was also tough on me as I tore a ligament in my right-hand thumb (I did this while climbing a steep, rocky hill at the end of the first lap and tried to "nurse" the throttle for the next 2 agonizing laps).
I noticed that as soon as the race is over, it sure feels like an accomplishment and you feel a little closer to your brethen GNCC racers.
