Nyroc ; You might want to talk to Skip Matzacks outfit, he make special sealing componets for rod ends,( Hiem joints) axle seals, and a smogasboard of things for the high perfomance world, Ive used his stuff on our dirt cars in the past, and it is quality, and it saves parts, and he probably has something close to what your after, i have not had mine apart yet to really see whats needed and have not really read all the posts on this, I talked to skip many times and he will help you, he is even in your neck of the woods cause he used to run them east coast modifieds . This companys name is (seals it). This is a Combination of neoprene rubber bonded to a steel washer and they do hold up. NYROC
maybe some of the center pivot bolts are different lengths as mine were flush with the back of the bearing and race.

Roscoe, maybe your bolts were shorter. If they were that is great. They aren't doing any good longer.

I just put the bearings in with marine grease. I also took apart the driveshaft but that wasn't necessary. It was ok. I am going to finish putting it in tomorrow. I can't put the hubs back on the axles because I am missig one seal and I have to leave one side cover off until I get it. Hopefully allballs will pull through for me.

I guess you don't like my foam Idea? It will do everything the seal cup was going to do. Actually the seal cups get ruined every time you take the race out anyway. The foam gets ruined too, so it is the same.

Well if you don't like the foam idea - thats just tough, because I already did one side and I am going to do the other side tomorrow AM.
After reading all the tech stuff I not had mine apart I say carry on son .sorry for the last post. now i know what your sayin there aint no room it will have to be machined...jh

Ok Nyroc, you guys have got me thinking (worried lol) now.I was checking my repair manual to get a better look at this bearing deal. Are you guys saying that the only way the grease seems to get washed out is from the inside out??? So in other words if the swingarm boot is tight and the plugs stay in this should not be an issue very soon?
I was looking at the procedure to remove them,I can't understand a bolt on one side and a nut and stud on the other....is this a clearance thing? Just wondering.

The hose clamp on the boot scrunches it in one spot and makes it not seal. Mud and water fills the swngarm every mudhole you go in. The rubber plugs might leak too. It isn't the greatest design.

My swingarm bearings are gone. I checked on Monday and found out they were toast. After I get everything ripped apart, I'm gonna have a good look to see if I can figure something out to keep the water and crap out of there. Good idea on sealing up the tube Nyroc. I'll probably go that way. I'm gonna make the swingarm bolts greasable so I can shoot some new grease in there once in a while. The bolt on the right side is easy to do, but the one on the left is gonna take some planning. Sounds like fun though!!!

I think that left side is a problem to do that to it. If you could drill a hole in the left side bolt (the one with the lock nut), could you tap it and put a screw in it to seal it? You might need to make a special fitting to grease it.

Just use the foam, you will probably never need to regrease the bearings again.

Nyroc, I went the extreme route. I welded plates in the tubes to keep them sealed. Not a chance of getting water in there now. You guys are probably wondering how I'm going to get my bearing races out now. I have a system for that that works like a charm. I made both my bolts greasable so there won't be a problem greasing them up. The left side one was a pain, but it is possible. I wish a guy could post pics on this site like you can on the "other" site. It takes forever to explain stuff that a picture can show you in a second. Anyways, I gotta get some 424 for the rear diff and I'll be ready to rock!!
