vtwiner.....the pred has a lot more than it gets credit for too.....you can tune it a lot too, to make it run a lot better.....The pred also comes geared(or in your case clutched) wrong, if the pred is geared down, it will run!! I highly doubt that a 700 could keep up with me, and equal mods.

My riding buddy has a Predator, and we have raced so many times that it is impossible to even take a guess at the number of times we have lined them up. Here is what I can tell you.
In STOCK form:
On Dirt: My 700 would take him for the first 150 to 200 feet. After that, it was hard to tell what the flash of silver was that went by me.
On Sand: Same results, except for when it comes to Hill Climbs. The 700 just seems to pull the hills harder. I will beat him every time no matter how big or how steep the hill is.
MODDED: Pred - White Bros pipe. V - HMF Duals & EPI Pink Spring.
On Dirt: 700 holeshot and leads untill about 400 to 500 feet, then the Pred flies by. The difference in top speed is very much in favor of the Pred.
On Sand: Same as on dirt, only the Pred goes by at about 300 to 350 feet and continues to pull away. Hill Climbs, still no contest 700 all the way. The big difference being the Torque of the V.
Granted, neither of these Quads are modded to any great degree, however, these are our results with the way our two quads are set up and compare to each other.

Bradracer18..
I agree that the Predator is severly underpowered and overgeared stock. I'm in no way putting the Predator down, it's a great quad. I'm just suprised at all these guys who can't figure out why their V loses to most other bikes. It's because their using inferior clutch setups "Pink spring". It's not as simple as throwing in a different clutch spring. You have to both change the spring AND the weights to get the V where it needs to be.

That's not really the case, both quads probably top out in the vicinity of 70 mph. The difference is the Predator will pull hard all the way to the top, while the V if not clutched really well may fall on its face from say 60-70. If you run even up to 60, but it takes him 3 more seconds to get to 70 but it takes you 6 more seconds to get there it'll look like you're getting killed on top speed when you really aren't. I could keep my front wheels right on my brother's rear wheels through all 6 gears on pavement when he had his Banshee and I could take him every time in a 400-450 ft. drag race. I switched to the HPD plain spring one weekend and tried to run him on the pavement again and he blew by me like I was in reverse. You've got to keep it pulling hard at all times.
The Dalton blue/orange will rev higher than the pink and it gives you a little stall for a better holeshot.
