Need to replace inner CV boot on P700- any tips?
Hi everyone - I need to replace the inner CV boot on my 2004 Prairie 700. What is the process going to be like here? Will I need a spring compressor and to remove the strut? What kind of time frame am I looking at? I bought the kit from EPI and bought the tool to tighten the clamps. Any general tips and procedural tips?
On another note, I am constantly amazed by the knowledge on here! I have learned a ton just by reading these forums every day. Thanks in advance for your help.

You don't need to touch the strut. You need a big hammer to knock the control arm off (at the ball joint), after removing the knuckle bolt. I don't remember the details, without looking at my bike or my MAINT MANUAL. You should get one, it is handy. I had to clean the outer CV and put new boots on. It took awhile to get to the outer. And you have to remove the brake caliper, too. It is a good time see if you need new pads. That's all I have for now.
Good luck.

See below, this is just a guess. If anyone want to verify this for me, we can make a tech tip out of it?
Remove tire.
Remove caliper.
Remove axle nut.
Remove knuckle - requires removing strut bolts and lower ball joint. See if it can come off the axle without removing the steering tie rod. In not, remove tie rod. Hammer control arm down or maybe use a pickle fork (see above post). Remove knuckle
Place cardboard, old pillow or something below axle to catch it if it hits.
Push axle inward toward diff.
Grip axle tightly and yank it out (do not place eyes, face, knee, groin, young children, dogs, cats, precious artwork, or any thing else you don't want whacked by the axle in the way as it may come out with depending on the force you use on it.
Remove the inner cv boot clamps and discard.
There is a big snap ring inside the inner CV, remove it. Catch CV joint ***** if they fall out.
Replace boots, regrease stuff or whatever.
