Hey Scully,
What spot on the throttle are you having difficulty? I have nearly the same mods you got with an 03 and I have this annoying stumble at off idle to just above 1/8 throttle. If I push on the choke, it goes away... I am thinking on going up one or two on the pilot jet. THis never happened until I did the Nyroc muffler mod or I should say I never experienced any problems. I will say that I took a trip to the Black Hills near deadwood SD last year and my prairie never ran so well and started so well.

I'm also having a similiar problem. Only happens at off-idle speeds as well. If I give it gas, it'll sorta stumble & crackle a bit. Once it gets past that spot is alright. Only thing that cures mine 90% is to cover 1/2 of my 2" snorkle - of course having the snorkle covered up at speed completely kills top end. I've tried tuning it out of the mixture screws to no avail. Seems to me the pilot jet is the next choice. Mine didn't start doing it until I did the snorkle & nyroc exhaust mod (I've changed jets to 142/145 also). If you do the pilot jets and it cures it, please let me know! I will do the same.

Russ700KFX, Have you tried adjusting the mixture screws by the rpm drop method? Set the idle a little high, and with the motor warm, start at 2 turns out. Slowly go in, on the screws, til you get a drop in rpm. This is the lean drop, from here count the turns out. Slowly go out, and when you get to the next drop in rpm, its from rich. Halfway between these drops is a good place for the mixture screw to be set.
If you dont get a drop going out, or you dont get to it before, 4 turns out from seated, then you need bigger pilot jets.

hondabuster,
I have tried that method to an extent. I think I was turning the screws in and out a little too fast for the change in idle speed to be immediately discernable, though. However, once it sounded about right, I took it out for a spin and had bad backfiring on decel after a WOT run. This led me to turning those mixture screws out 1/4 at a time until that went away. Right now they're sitting at 3½f 3¾r, I think. Being unsure how much more they could be turned out, I've left them there since. So you say 4 turns is the max? Sounds like I'm fast approaching on the new pilot jet. I will give that method another try tomorrow just to make sure. Thanks for the advice!

Ordered my pilot jets today from my dealer (size 42 and 45). Should have them for the weekend or Monday the latest... I am on vacation next week so I will try 'em and report back... Going back to my dynojet kit, DG snorkle, and keeping y Nyroc modded pipe... I just need a way to get it past the DNR for no spark arrestor...

I am going richer with my pilot jets. I got a set of #42's and #45's. I went richer cause when I switched on my choke (richer) the stumble went away. I should have my jets tomorrow (hopefully) or Monday... I will let you know what happens...

Not sure if you are still listening Scully, but I got my pilot jets and installed the 42's. Runs like crap, in fact it runs so bad from idle to full throttle, I brought it in to my dealer. I started out getting a lean condition at off idle to in between 1/8 and 1/4 throttle when I drilled out my muffler to running terrible. I must have done something and I got to pay someone to fix it, but I guess that is how you learn... My dealer's mechanic is a great guy and will take care of me. I will report here when I get the lowdown on what happened if anyone is interested... By the way, I heard the P700 cams take care of the starting issues with the p650. That is what the Kawi Engineers say anyway... Anyone heard of that?
