Default 4 VS 6 degree key

Diamond G Racing makes a tooled steel 4 degree advance key for the V-Force and Prairie. It is not a home made type of key and it made a difference in all around power but mostly on top.

you would want to run a better grade of gas but the 6 degree key would be the ticket .......
you said in a differnt post that the cdi brings the timeing down to 18 deg at 5500 rpm, you would need alot more than 6deg for best performance.

Have you found any new info on the cdi you are having cut up?

The difference between the CDI and the keys is this.

Keys will give advanced timing....ie...6 dregree above the stock timing, it will still fall off at 5500 rpm, but will be 6 higher.

The CDI will stay at 5 dregrees for ease of starting and ramp up to 32 dregree and not fall off at 5500 rpm. I don't know Mickey exact spec's, but I would guess these are close.

Sometime that extra RPM's, given by advanced timing, won't give much performance gain because of the stock cams.

I thought the CDI in the V held 28 degrees across the board? I can't remember where I heard this though.

bbertram,

I'm no expert on the V, I have heard it both ways. but I have read so many time where the V falls off on top end, just like the Prairie.

Also I just read a post that said posted 18 degree at 5500.

Buy myself an upgrade for my computer which I won't use much this summer

OR

Buy myself some HP upgrades for my V, which I will use alot this summer.

They will cost about the same too, CDI or KEY + CAMS = a happy camper

Talk to Mickey to make sure the CDI is right for you. Nice job on the snorkle.
