I was wondering if the BF tank would fit the KQ as well. Hopefully they will interchange

2 things about the BF 750 specs on the AU Kaw. website bother me a little.

First, it specifically lists the trans. as 1 range...but also lists the gear ratios for both hi and low range...so I'm gonna have to assume that they made a typo and the BF 750 actually has both hi and low range.

Second, that site lists the P700 (called the workhorse 700 in AU) as having electric start with recoil backup...but the BF750 is only listed as having electric start. Does this mean that the BF 750 has no back-up starter (pull rope)??? I sure hope that this is yet another typo...I would hate to think that they left off the pull rope starter in order to save a little weight!

Does anyone know if the BF 750 definitely has a pull rope starter and also hi/low range???

Happy trails...

Mikeyboy, I don't think it would matter if the BF750 has a recoil starter or not. I couldn't start my 650 with the pull rope if I wanted to, so IMO it doesn't make any difference if it has one or not. Out of all the guys I ride with, none of them has ever been stranded in the bush due to the electric start packing it in. Just my .02.

Masterblastr,
I have pull started my P650 on many occasions (just to make sure it works properly). Its not hard to do b/c of the engine decompression feature that kicks in when you try to start the motor. I would think that the BF 750 would be about the same effort to start as the P650 b/c the BF 750 actually has less compression ratio (8.8:1) than the P650 (9.9:1).

Personally, I like having a back-up starter b/c you never know when your battery will go dead. Also, I have the Dyna cdi and more than a few folks have reported that their quad failed to start with the Dyna cdi b/c their battery was less than 100% charged (but it WOULD start with the OEM cdi which apparently draws less current from the battery)...so this might become an issue for the BF 750 if Dyna one day makes a cdi for that machine too.

Happy trails...
