Default P700 for towing?

I have an 02 650 with over 6000 miles on it and have towed my race car with it on many occasions. I hope the Brute Force is as reliable and strong

Would you say that the p700 is the most reliable quad that kawi has ever made? It seems good from the post that I am reading, but if I purchase this quad (looking at Honda as well), I want it for the long all.

Cheers

I would put it this way, IF YOU CAN'T TOW IT WITH A KAWA 700 PRIARIE, you probably can't tow it with any quad. It has the most HP and torque (other than the kawa BF now). I pull many things with it. I have moved my 20ft bay boat which weighs 3700lbs with everything and on the trailer. Just use low range and you should be fine.

I towed a 16 foot heavy-duty trailor with a 18 ft steel deer stand & feeders threw some pretty nasty mud with no problems.

Thanks for the replies, it looks like the p700 will make a great work bike, with trail like features to boot. As said I am weary of belt burn, engine braking, and the durability of the quad. In the past, my limit experience with kawi bikes is that they are really reliable, maybe as good or better then Honda, viewed by most to be the bench make of quality in the industry.

BTW the other bike that I will be looking at is the rubicon . . . thoughts? Hopefully I will be able to look at and test drive these bikes in a week or two.

Cheers

my 650 will outpull my honda any day .my son got my diesel chevy half ton stuck in a ditch up to the axles and it pulled it out with no problem, much too the surprise of the people watching from the highway, and as for braking on hills,it will crawl down a very steep incline and hardly pick up speed, you almost have to give it throttle to keep moving.

My quad has pulled everything I ever hooked it to. I have heard that a quad is safer working than a tractor, but haven't tested that.

I'm don't think gears are any better engine brake the the prairie ebc. Maybe some other belt ebc's, but not the prairie. You could walk beside the prairie with no brake on really steep and rocky declines if your feet didn't come out from under you. I just rode some 100 mile days in the mountains and didn't use the brakes hardly at all except on switchbacks.

You couldn't pay me enough to disconnect the ebc (as some have done) and go riding in the mountains. It just flat will save your a$$.

bur252 , We had a couple of Rubicon 500 before I bought my P700 and can tell you that even both of those quad tied together wouldn't out pull the P700. They are made to work hard and play hard. I've tied a Ruby to my new P700 back to back and the Ruby was on Low, I was on my P700 4 X 4 High and would drag the Rubicon around as if it was in neutral... Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing the Rubicon but they are not true Uttilities like the P700. I ran into some problem with my Rubi when I was hauling wood and was due to tranny, too much weight hauling. The LCD ODO was flashing and quad was stalling, The same weight and more on 2X4 with the P700.

Good luck with your choice because they're both good uttilities.

Sorry for the silence, but I have been away . . . still haven’t had the chance to try the P700, but hopefully soon. Mtd, how has the belt hold up under stress? You said that it will out pull the ruby, but do you think it would out last the ruby?

Cheers

Kawi engines and geartrains are as good as you can get in a quad. Besides, lasting depends on breakin, oil cahnges, and air cleaner maintenance. It will outlast you if you maintain it.

However, there are a few little maintenance things you will have to do to the kawi that honda probably doesn't have (belt, grease swingarm brg). All you gotta do it think about the condition of your belt once in a while and get it tightened or replaced before you let it get super loose. If you keep the belt tight it will go 2000 miles.

I would rather take the little maintenance issues over a big problem (or having to drive a lawn tractor like the foreman).

The belt is only $35 (gates) and takes 10 minutes to swap ($65 for kawi belt).

I don't see why you are still asking these questions? The kawi is clearly a better choice.
