Default lakota clmp-on filter

i have tried using a k&n clamp on filter directly on my carberator for my lakota but have always had problems with it. it would work great for a bout an hour but after that it lose almost all its power to a point where it could barly move. i switched back to the original air box set up. with the stock air box it ran great, my theory to what the problem is that it was sucking all the hot air off the motor wich resulted in the power loss. i have read on here that other people have done the same thing. have any of you had this problem? the air box on the lakota is very anoying when you need to rejet because you need to take it off all the time so you have room to work. i would like to go back to a clamp on setup, does anyone have any creative solutions to this problem.
Another thing is the last time i ran it it would only idle, if you open the throttle up at all it dies. a week ago i took it out to the dunes and it ran great. any ideas to whats wrong?
