Hit a tree over in Utah on our 5 day Paiute trail run. Saved me from going down the side of the mountain though. Broken leg is only personal damage. Helmet saved my bacon...have head abrasions where helmet hit tree.
Now the reason for the post: Pushed the fender plastic, bumper and rack down onto the right front tire. Some of the guys were able to pull the bumper and rack back to about right. No plastic breakage at all. I was going to get the bending points weld reinforced....can this thin metal be welded?
The front brake handle needs replaced....what to do here....get the part # at the kawi site and then where to order the handle? Any help with any of this would be greatly appreciated.

I recommend that you get the brake handle p/n at Kawi site (parts diagram) and then call Ron Ayers (or got to ronayers.com) to buy it. They usually have much better prices than my local Kaw. dealer.
Sorry to hear about your accident, but I'm glad to know that you were smart enuf to wear a helmet at the time!

The thin metal can be welded. The best way is to bend it back straight, at which point it will almost certainly break. Once it breaks, clean up the ends and mig weld it. It will make a better/stronger repair that way.
Check the price of the bumper at Ron Ayers, too. I don't think they're that expensive.

JH: I might be one of a minority on the forum who knows what you mean by the term 'brother'. Appreciate it.
One of the guys I was riding with told me I should have touched the front brake, then goosed it. Next time (and there will be a next time) I'll try that. There was no time to bail. Probably for some of the young guys on here, there was time. With everything (me and the bike) heading for the tree at 25 or so, don't know how that would have come out. Bike stop quick by tree, me still in the air at 25 toward the bike. Who knows.
