KFX700 running strong
#1
This last weekend I went to North Sand Hills in Walden, CO for my first duning trip after adding my 6* advanced timing key. My mods include the Dalton weights and cover plate with the Comet black spring and 2 shims. I also have a CC performance dual intake, Pro Circuit duals, and a Dynojet jet kit. After many various combos of springs/shims both before and after adding the Dalton components, I have found this to be the most potent combination yet. Here is a video of my KFX700 running the hill against my buddy's no airbox/piped/jetted TRX450R and what appeared to be a fairly heavily modded Z400.

Yeah, I feel for people on dial-up I am running 22X11X10 Skat-Trak Edges. If the sand is dry, they work great. If the sand is wet, the sand has a tendency to pack into the "V" shape of the paddle blade. My buddies Haulers perform a lot better when it is wet, but when it is dry I think they are pretty close for acceleration. I've hit right around 77.4 mph according to my Etrex GPS, but that is with the Dalton overdrive plate.

How much more power did you get from the timing key? I'm thinking about shelling out some cash for a aftermarket CDI unit and a set of cam's... Buy hey, if I can get the same results with a timing key I might do that...... My current mods are HMF dual exhaust, Dalton Industries clutch kit with billet cover and Blue spring, 2 TPI valves in the air box and the Diamond G snorkel, I'm jetted 160/165, with a twin air foam filter...... I know I'm not getting anywhere near a top speed of 77 mph.. Is that top speed on sand?

Some of your problem lies with the blue spring. It's a great spring for stock or close to stock bikes, but one with as many mods as yours would benefit from a more aggressive spring. I would try the Dalton org/blu or the Comet black. The timing key is awesome, I feel that I got as much gain from it as I got from adding my pipes. This setup I have now pulls extremely hard through the midrange and topend now and also builds revs faster than it did without the key. Unless you have plans for a future big bore kit, the CDI is a waste of money in my opinion. I can't even come close to 77 mph on sand, that top speed is measured on a flat gravel road. I am a regular poster over at cough, cough (another forum), and there is a member there that is selling timing keys for $15 shipped.

umm...you might want to edit your last post because with the takl of other forums and soliciting products the mods might edit or delete the thread...just so you know

I roll by the name Killer_Shee on all the other forums I browse. I post very little here, even though I have been a member for better than 5 years. Just wanted a few people other than the ones on that cough, cough (other forum) to see what was possible with this machine once you get it running correctly. I can't believe that a thread would get deleted for talking about another forum, oh well, I guess rules are rules.
