Default What do you guys think of the Dirt Wheels Brute Force test???

Just read the new dirt wheels test of the Brute Force. Overall OK, but they were critical of the handling. Truth of typical BS from them? What do you BF owners think of the handling of this machine? Is it as bad in the corners as they said? Anyone found corrections for this, maybe in different tires? Let's discuss this. I just bought a BF and want to know what possible corrections are. Thanks.

Someone had a post a while ago about this and I still say:
I am not sure why some of these *experts* insist on taking a machine that is designed to climb up the side of a mountain, driving over rocks, fallen trees, through river beds, streams, rutted out logging roads and race them on a trail expecting the performance of a quad designed to do such things. They may as well take a mini-van and race it on a dirt oval and complain how poorly it handles.

ATV Rider mag stated that "more isn't always better". I wonder if they will say the same about the KQ 700 or the 800 Polaris?

Howdy,
I read the test of the BF in Dirt Wheels. I gurantee that the BF will not do well in the shoot out. Kawasaki has won 3 in a row and the other advertisers are probably in a snit. If you read the conclusion they said that it will not do as well as the rest of the Japanese quads or the Polaris.. Since they named Polaris, I would bet on them as a winner. It has nothing to do with ability, just advertising dollars. Have a goodun!!!!!

Personally I thought that Dirt Wheels was generous with their evaluation of the BF. I got to ride one recently, I jumped on it and took off at race pace for .1 miles, and brought it back to the guy, didn't like it one bit. The engine is awesome...tons of power. But they put it in the chassis of a mountain goat, and there is a lot of body roll in the suspension, giving it an unerving feeling at high speeds. But for technical riding and fun trail paces, it is a very fun and comfortable quad...I just didn't like that you can't push it. That's why I opted for the 700!

HI pudljumpr,

If Kawasaki mounted that same engine (V-Twin 750) into the Prairie, then it would be a different story as far as handling characteristics.

I have yet to see the Brute Force but would love to ride one.

My plans are to purchase the Prairie 700 this upcoming fall.

No offense, but, I don't see how the prarie700 can't win again. I have not seen anything that the other folks have done yet to chaneg the results from last year. What I find really funny is that the one complaint that they have all had about the prarie is the lack of IRS. But, as soon as Kawi gives them what they want, they start bitching about the body roll and handling. WHAT A SUPRISE. Guess what, irs does not handle like a solid axle will. You want the handling, get the prarie, you want to do some big time mudding, get the brute. Looks to me like Kawi has all the bases covered now.

The magazine is BS, the handling is BS. Its pretty much all BS if they give it a bad evaluation.

How can it have "BAD" handling?? Seriously. You can say it won't rail like a YFZ450 or something, but do you consider it to be bad? Hell no. Bad is what a 1986 Honda 350 4x4 with a straight front axle has. Not an 05 750 Kawasaki. If you compare it to a Prairie, you can say "not as sporty as the prairie" but can you say it handles bad? No.

Its a 600lb 4x4 with a big *** engine. Its not a Raptor or a 250R. Take it for what it is. I hear all this crap on how the Grizzly has bad handling and has body roll. So I guess if I take it to an MX track, then I should be dissapointed. Yeah, probably so if I was to do such a thing, but it handles great to me. And I ride it fast too. So the magazine's evaluation of the BF is just something else to put on paper and sell. No more no less.

People are too overcritical of great machines. Compared to what we rode 10 years ago, this stuff is awesome.

I agree with Ross650, when it comes down to it its all about money in some way or another. You other guys have good points also.
