The Bayou 220 has both an internal filter screen and conventional type filter. The internal screen should only be cleaned when the engine is torn apart and is there only to save the sump pump from larger metal fragments. The conventional filter is located behind a black, circular cover near the lower front of the right (as if you are sitting on the ATV) side of the engine. It is kept in place my two 8mm (if my memory is correct) bolts and should be replaced after every five tanks of gas.
