1991 Bayou 220 elec. start problem

Default 1991 Bayou 220 elec. start problem

My parents bought me my first quad whic h is a 1991 Kawasaki Bayou (220cc). i got it home n the battery was pretty dead so i couldnt check the starter or the lights too well so i threw on the charger over nite. Next day i took the charger off and tried the elec. start and all i got was buzzing form under the seat, so i took the seat off and it was the little solinoid or w/e it is by the battery and nothing happens just the buzzing. i tried blowing off the relay and reconnecting it but theres no change[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/img] can some one help me please!!!!!!!!! Sounds like you batterys shot, Buy a new one.

Try the battery first, the next would be the starter gears. But start easy first, swap out the battery, if it sat for awhile uncharged its probably all sulfated and wont hold a charge now.

Before you buy a battery, check the connections, to make sure they are clean and tight. If it still wont turn over, try the rope pull, to make sure the motor isnt froze up. Then take the battery to Autozone or napa and have them do a load test, its free, and then youll know if the battery is shot or not.

The bayou is a auto clutch type setup. There are a few things you can do such as add the only pipe available for it (cobra) and a bit of jetting, but there is not too much that you can do that make you see real gain on the performance side. they just dont make anything for this quad.

Yeha the quad starts first pull fine it runs great other than the electric just wont do n e thing other than Buzz.....N e idea what the pipes gonna cost me? (canadian dollars)

Its 109 american available from denniskirk.com and other outlets, so 109 american is what like 7000 canadian??? [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]
