First of all the chance is small. The CDI has to "kickback" first, then do damage. It has kicked back before but no damage and it doesnt do it all the time. If I test this Dyantek CDI and it proves to be worth $250 I may buy one. For it to do that I would have to gain the 2mph in 350" that minimus says he gets. I will know for sure next weekend.

Nyroc Would like to see pics of your new trailer. Did you build it or buy it? I'm 67 years old w/ a 02 650. My trailer is a 5X8 w/ a axle rated at 3500lbs. At my age that trailer is getting to heavy. Thanks for all the info on the 650's. There is no one around the St Louis area that knows anything about the 650's. Heck 3 dealers repairmen did'nt know anything about the black spring.

If he dont reply by tomorrow night I will get in touch with him. He made two really nice trailers. The pull like you dont even know they are there. Thats when you know you have a good trailer.

Here it is. I can lift it with one hand. It is not even a strain with one hand. The tongue is removeable for easy storage. This aluminum one has turned out to be such a cool ATV trailer that I love to brag about it. It is going to have a removeable 3rd piece that will allow it to hold 2 quads. The tongue is about 40lbs even with the ATV on it. I can move the trailer around with the ATV loaded. The weight is still far enough forward that is is extremely stable and does not bob or weave even when going fast.
My other trailer was awesome too, if you didn't have to lift it vertical( here). It was easy enough to move around and get it on the car. I can lift it vertical, but it get pinched nerves in my wrist due to the amount that I have to bend my wrist to wrestle this thing vertical. The tongue is also removeable for easy storage.
Both of these are extra low for extra stability and you can also get the ATV on it without a ramp so it is double easy. They each take about 1 or to minutes to assemble.
Don't even ask for me to make one unless you are prepared to pay well, because they take a lot of work and I am not overly anxious to do one again.
As for price, I can't compete with triton even working for free .
One of these welder, machinist guys on the forums could build it better than I could.

kbar, I second the lack of knowledge from the St. louis dealers, Had one dealer call me at home to ask what kind of spring that was I had him install, apparently someone was asking about it. I also really appreciate the knowledge passed around this site.

Nyroc Thanks for the pics of your trailer. It looks great. And thanks for all the other responces. Guess Im going to have to look for a lighter trailer which includes ideas like yours. A lot of people tell me Im getting to old to ride a 4 wheeler ,but Im having to much fun. Again thanks

nyroc, nice trailer!!! i was wondering if you put the axle 70% behind the leading edge of the deck? from what ive read you are soppost to split it 70% front/ 30% rear of your deck. i built a trailer last year, 10'- 7' with a 4' 6" tung. i didnt go by the rules either, i put the axle 65% behind the leading edge of the deck. i can get one quad straight on and one on sideways in the back with no problem.
just thought i would ask.

Deerchoop, it really depends on how it is loaded. 70% is a really good number, I suppose, because it may effectively prevent a balanced load. A load with the weight balanced on the axles or further back will cause the trailer to bob.
I once put the center of some tandem axles at 55% on a trailer. That was bad. It bobed on the highway when loaded evenly.
I actualy put my rear axle exactly in the middle of the path the ATV will take when it drives onto this trailer sideways so that the ATV's tires will straddle the fenders which will be 5" above the trailer deck. The trailer tire will clear that fender by 3". The fender will be diamond plate with 1" square tubing so that the ATV can drive on the fender without bending it if necessary. My axles are going to be at exactly 75% in two stage mode. But, in single ATV mode, the axle is at 63%.
