Dyna w/ key working good but jetting ?

Without dyna bike run good , with dyna cut out on top. Jetted richer 2 steps with dynojets to 142 & 144, still cut out with dyna without got slightly worse. Open air box lid slightly and hang on, Bike run better than ever. Finally pulls good past 59, pulls hard to 64 than gets up to 67 on gravel road with me almost 300 lb. Now my bike seems as good as the stock700 with 3300miles that I tried the dyna on last sunday. I was worried it was the key and didn't want to pull it again. Now not sure what to guess to try for jetting.

Have you checked your plugs? What I gather from your post is that the Dyna CDI is causing you to run richer than you were without it?? After going from 136/140 to 142/144, and having the same symptoms but worse, I would think that I was running too rich. The open airbox confirms this. I would try a 132/136 combo and see how it runs.
I'm confused about how the advanced ignition timing would cause it to run richer. Over-advanced timing would cause the same problems you and I are having. I had my jetting dialed in perfectly prior to using the Dyna CDI, and I cannot believe the CDI could make that much difference with jetting. I would bet money on too much timing. I have not had time to fool with it, hope to do so this weekend. I haven't checked my plugs after putting the CDI in, will do that after I clean the mud out.

Cuda440, What elevatin are you? I may put stock snorkel and jets back in. I am at 1800'
Crypie, Before dyna I tried leaner and lost performance. Now it seems to want to be leaner. When I tried the last couple nights ,it was 44* Without dyna bike seemed to run better when much warmer out. Bike seemed to run better off line when cold out ,maybe I should go to 5 on needles instead of 4th position.

Bike still rich, put snorkel back on. Maybe just a little rich still. Slight cut out so chocked it fully until felt it hiccup than it run up to 67. That s as fast as it ever went. Doesn't seem right to be rich with my set up.

Hi Guys
I know this is a old post , But I have the same problem . I have a 2004 Prairie that I put a T-4 exhaust , DJ jet kit with needle's , twinair cleaner , rad hose intake .
I'm running 138 Front and 142 Rear and it was just a tad rich with the mixture screws @ 3 1/2 turns out . The machine ran great .
I just put the new DYNA box on and this machine loaded up just warming up , it ran fine with the stock box , I guess I'm going to have to drop down a few numbers on the jets , and re-adjust the mixture.
Can any one tell me why the box caused it to do this .
Thanks
Greg

guess I'm not the only one, My plug colors were perfect and my bike ran perfect as well. I installed the dyna the other day and it pulls much much better but I did notice a slight miss on occasion. I pulled my plugs for the hell of it and they are much darker than normal and it is much colder than the last time I pulled them so it should be leaner just because of the weather. And from what I understood advanced timing causes more heat at the spark plug which would in turn require richer jetting but it looks like I could go down a size because when summer rolls around and it warms up 50 degrees I'll be extra rich.
