I had a good friend of mine that went with us that trail 94 was where his quad took a bad one.. We rode up trail 93 and then down 94. He had his locked in 4 wheel drive and when he went over the ledge the 4 wheeler flipped fowards and continuted flipping down the trail till it fell off the left side of the trail and barrel rolled over the mountain till it landed on what was left of its 4 wheels perfecly onto the trail below.. He bailed and was ok... The 4 wheeler was in pretty bad shape. We did get it out though after a couple hours...

What is the best trail there? My dad and i are gonna go when i graduate. I only have about four inches of clearance and two-wheel drive so nothing too rough. Thanks.

I know that spot well sportbike.......I swear the 650 was standing on it's grille when I went down it.As fas as the best trail I think you might mean trail system??......No doubt it's Rockhouse with Buffalo Mtn running a close 2nd IMO. I would stay off the blacks with a 2wd sport quad.We have had guys on Raptors and Predators try them and it never turns out pretty.I would have to say 98 at Buff mtn is the most gnarly........all in all.

Have to agree with Kodiak1 - Rockhouse then Buffalo Mtn. Although - Buffalo Mtn. is going to have a new trail open (supposed to be the 22nd of this month) The one down to Williamson is to be opening, it will add another 13 miles to that system. And, if it's like the other trails there, it will be awesome. No matter where you ride there, it is never disappointing - watch those black trails, you won't be in Kansas anymore (Mrs. Q)

[i] I'm told that WV has TONS of these riding areas (non-H/M trails) and the locals are truly blessed in this regards!

Hey Mikey,
Glad you had a "hoot" here in the hills!!!!!!
Next time you come to Wild & Wonderful, you should check out "The Wagon Wheel" riding area. It's a non-H&M trail area, and it offers a little more technical riding due to the absence of continuous maintenance.........and it's free.
The Wagon Wheel is located farther up the same hollow, about 2 miles (in a straight line) past the Castle Rock/Rockhouse trail system on Pinnacle Creek. The Wheel sports cooked food, snacks, beverages & BEERverages, restrooms, and gasoline. Also, just a few miles away, in opposite directions, are two other little convenient stops called "The Outpost" and "The Trading Post".......and they both offer VERY similar services.
Check out this site for some info about the Wheel:

Check out this site for some more pics and some informative articles:

Oh, and before I forget.........the entire area is pretty GPS friendly in case you ever want to re-trace your riding endeavor by yourself. A bunch of us locals go down there at least once a month, and I have logged over 200 miles of routes on my GPS since August.
Have fun, and keep the rubber side down..................

RTO,
Thanx for the info/website on the Wagonwheel. My friend Jack (a WV native who took me riding in Wyoming County) mentioned that place, so maybe I'll go check it out on my next trip to WV (along with (H/M) Buffalo Mtn too).
Honestly, I can see myself coming back to WV for vacation year after year for a long time thanx to the H/M and non-H/M trails available there! Its truly an awesome experience and I'm very sad that my own state does not offer anything comparable to WV with respect to ATV riding opportunities.
Happy trails...
