It's about my bayou
#1
I have a 2000 kawi bayou 220.(and a couple of questions) 1) what are the specs for the valve lash on intake and exhaust valves? 2) what is the procedure to adjusting clutch so it's not so hard to shift? It doesn't slip when you let off the gas like it should, it lurches forward as motor slows down with the same speed as the quad.3) what is the largest tire size I could go without sacraficing too much; torgue, get up and go speed, and ability to powerslide on command. stock is 22x10x10, I was thinking 23x8x10 ITP Mudlites. all replys greatly appreciated.

valve setting are
intake 0.15-0.20 mm (0.006-0.008 in)
exhaust 0.18-0.23 mm (0.007-0.009 in)
adjust with the engine cold
to adjust the clutch take off the small plastic cap on the right side (when sitting on it) of the engine loosen the locknut then turn the screw clockwise until you feel resistance then turn it counter clockwise til you feel resistance then hold the screw and tighten the locknut

I got a question for ya. When youre cruisin along in any gear but especially low gears, and when you let off the gas, does it seem to lurch forward and slow down the atv as the motor slows down or does the centrifugal clutch disengage (like it should) and the motor seems to go close to idle as the atv loses momentum very slowly then to a stop? Mine kinda lurches forward when I let off gas. Is this normal?

I found that my Bayou shifts much easier if you add one final step when adjusting the clutch, that is to turn the screw back in the clockwise direction 1/4 turn. I noticed this step in the clutch adjustment procedure for my '92 Honda Fourtrax and tried it on my Bayou.
