Default How to reposition the 2wd/4wd actuator shaft accurately?

Ok, I just installed a new 2wd/4wd actuator in my P650 last night and much to my chagrin, the 2wd and 4wd lights are STILL flashing on the speedo display! I then removed the 2wd/4wd actuator several times last night to see if I somehow installed it incorrectly. I also tried connecting extra wires to the red and black wires of the 2wd/4wd actuator in order to reposition the output shaft so as to be lined up according to the P650 service manual. I WONDER IF THE OUTPUT SHAFT MUST BE ***EXACTLY*** LINED UP IN ORDER FOR THE 2WD/4WD ACTUATOR TO WORK PROPERLY...OR IS IT OK IF I HAPPEN TO BE SLIGHTLY OFF???

Just to recap, my dealer and I have recently replaced the KEBC actuator, the controller and the 2wd/4wd actuator...but the flashing 2wd and 4wd problem still exists. After spending lots of time and money on this problem, I am now totally clueless as to what is the cause of this problem.

PS - I also tried unplugging the battery for a minute or two. None of this has stopped the flashing problem. Does anyone have any thoughts for me to try? I have another XC race this Sunday and I'm starting to get desperate for help!

Happy trails...

Have you tried to disconnect the 4x4 black box from the cdi and unplug power from the battery from the cdi?

Alltoys,
Thanx for the reply Alltoys. Nope, I have never heard of that before...is that sequence of steps supposed to somehow "reset" the 2wd/4wd system?

For racing in the past I have removed the shaft on the KEBC without removing the wires from the actuator. Sometimes I have had to unplug the 4x4 box as it would have a memory of such. This action has worked a few times but sometimes it does not, why I am not sure. I also tried other CDI's to remedy this situation and it has worked, must be a memory built in to them. It seems to die off after after a few months maybe there is an internal battery and the battery needs to drain for it to work, not sure. Someone who has more experience on the cdi will know more although I have never had the problem with the Dyna. Another recourse might to be to get a KEBC eliminators from DG I have seen them work. It flashes red when not in use and green when working. I don't know the price of the unit but something to think about.

Alltoys,
Thanx for the response.

To anyone else following this thread, I checked the interval of the flashing 2wd & 4wd on the speedo display and its at 0.5 sec...so that means the 2wd/4wd actuator is faulty. Then I ran the resistance test on the 2wd/4wd actuator and discovered that it has one measurement way out of whack! Apparently, I got a defective new actuator and now I'm trying to get in touch with the dealer who got it for me to see about replacing it. In the meantime, I 'm just happy that I now know what the problem is (at least, I hope so).
