Default PRARIE 700 PRIMARY SPRING

thinking about puttiing in the epi (black) spring in my prarie to help save belt life. Is it the front (primary) or rear (secondary) pulley that I need to replace. I just got 27" mud runners. What is the best option for me. By the way just ordered the dg5 too. Cant wait to see what everyone has been talking about, as far as power gains.

so I guess the black secondary spring is the one everyone has been saying to put in. How much of a task is it to do? I have pretty good mechanical ability and all the tools I think. If not, just gives me an excuse to buy more tools. cool.

another question for ya, With the big tires on, does the stock belt setup suck or will it hold up fine? What is average belt life on a p700?

I see you have the 05 BF 650 plus others. I just got the BF650 as have some others. I guess the big question is what parts work where. To start does the BF650 use the same belt as the p-700 or does it use parts from the 03 p-650. As far as primary and secondary springs again does it use the same as a p-700 or the older p-650. You are the only person I have seen here that has all of them there to compare with.

i just installed a dayco hp 2017 belt on my 05 p700 and also installed the black spring at that time, total it took about an hr after riding it and seeing what the deflection was after, but the install is really easy if you need some help go to nyrocs site and you'll find all you need there. i was in the dark till i went to his site cause i've never had a belt driven before, like nyroc says on his site once you tear it apart and see how it gets tore down it's easy. as far as my original belt i had 260 miles on it when it blew but that was after i smoked it 3 times pulling my buddie out of the river, you know how that goes..........lol. after i installed the black spring i did notice it wheelies easier so it must be gripping the belt better and it is supposed to increase the belt life which i apparenmtly need...........lol

bcnucs, you will need a spring compressor tool to put the epi black spring in. the epi black spring has more presure which will give you longer belt life. i changed my belt at 1800miles.

the black spring goes in the secondary clutch.

you dont need a puller bolt to change the primary spring.

the 02 and early 03 650p had a different angle on the primary clutch sheaves from the 700p. the 650bf and 750 bf just came out so not to many ppl have tore into to them yet to know what is different
