Default BF won't start

For some reason my BF will not start using the start button, at first I thought it was the battery so I put it on the charger and I am still having the same problem. It has been pretty cold here, but nothing out of the ordinary. I can start it will the recoil on the first pull, but for some reason it does not want to start using the button. I also have a problem with a leaky seal coming out of the rear of the engine going to the rear universal joint, it is at the shop now waiting on the backordered seal, surprise surprise. Has anyone else had the same problem? Any ideas with the starting problem?

will it crank with the electric start button ? a person i know who has one couldnt get his started as well, took it to the dealer it turned out to be a broken stater gear or something like that they replaced it now it starts, i dont know if he ever tried his pull start though. the leaky seal i have never seen or heard, mine doesnt leak, then again i dont think i really ever looked. It will crank with the electric starter, but it doesn't have enough to get it started. It also seems like it just loses power (battery) as I try to start it. I wonder if the battery has a bad cell or something, I'm not an expert on batteries though. I noticed the leak when I was doing the oil change, believe me, with the amount I saw you would definitely notice it.

hook a battery charger to it and if it will start using the electric starter with the charger hooked up then you kno its not the starter
