Put the first 50 miles on my new Prairie 700 this weekend. Nothing unusual on day 1, putting about 40 miles on the ATV. Today, I rode it for about 10 miles, and then rode it a little hard for the last mile or two. When I shut it off, the fan continued to run. I went in and took a shower, and when I went back outside, the fan was still running!!! It ran for about 20 minutes!! I turned the key on, and then off again, and then about 2 minutes later is finally shut off. I thought to myself, this can't be right, especially with the temps up in the mountains of about 45-50 degrees... I was thinking what does this V-Twin do in the summer time????
Is this normal?

So, this could be normal during break-in?
I saw a few other posts that said the fan does run along time during the break-in period. But, in these temps (45-50 degrees), 20 minutes still sounds like something is a matter.
It's probably worth mentioning to the dealer when I take it in for it's first service. I noticed in the manual there's some new stickers that replaced a page or two where the manual talks about the radiator fan. It appears there's a separate breaker for the fan now. I'm wondering if I have a bad themostat or if there's a problem someone else. Otherwise, the Prairie ran fine and worked fine all weekend.

When the engine is cold take the rad cap off and rev the machine up a little and see if it's pumping. You are watching for your temp light. I recommend a coolent additive in above freezing conditions. I don't care what you say riding hard for 12 miles should be nothing. Also check your oil level and or your jetting could be out. Look for leaks. The fan can run a little longer than the machine, my fan never came on in breakin miles.

Did you have any leaks from the crack in the hose? I haven't had a chance to really ride it again, but expect to put about 100 miles on this weekend. I will then be dropping it off at the dealership for the first service some time next. I'll see what it does this weekend, and hopefully it goes away, if not I'll tell the dealer to investigate further.
Thanks
