Just wanted to say that I got a V and Im loving it it goes threw deep mud that my 400ex would get stuck in.Plenty of power and having reverse is huge,I would consider this a great trail bike and that what i use it for.I though about it for a long time before I pulled the trigger I got a used 05 7 weeks old for 4200.

Just took mine to Glamis for the first time last weekend. I read several folks complaining about its weight and its performance in the sand, but I have to say, that thing kicked a$$ out there. I don't know of ANY other quad that you can pull up to a dune, hit the gas, and rocket to the top without getting a running start. With the right tires, this thing is unstoppable. While playing follow-the-leader in the dunes, others have to constantly row through the gears, carefull not to miss a shift. Not the V-rider. He just has to keep the front end down . I couldn't be happier.

Kawierider- In one of your pics you say "Riding right into the old west. I didn't see anyone for days. "- How long of a trip did you take? it sounds interesting. Did you go by yourself or with a group? -Keith

That particular trip was up in the Inyo Mountains. This mountain range lies east of the Sierra Nevada (which you can see in the background of the photos). I spent 4 days up there, riding alone. I packed an extra 6.5 gallons of gas and the same amount of water. There's a ghost town, old mining claims, and a whole lot of solitude. The views alone are amazing, and what's more amazing is how few people go up there. There's some degree of danger (maybe foolishness) in going alone, but the adventure draws me out there anyway.

Glad you love your V-Force. You got a good deal on your used one. Wait til you put some mods on it, then you'll definately be flyin. I love mine. Its a little heavy but oh well, the power more than makes up for it.
Kawierider-A lot of people say that the V-Force doesn't do good at all in the sand. I don't believe them of course cause I ride on some smaller dunes than Glamis and the V-Force kicks *** on the dunes. Of course mine is hopped up too. How do you think the V-Force does compared to the 450 yamaha's and Honda's? I've never ridden one but i know they are fast. We got the advantave in not having to SHIFT!! yee hawww!!

In the sand, the V really shines in the big monster stuff where you can put that broad power to work. I went ahead and bought the big Skat Traks right off the bat and had them mounted on extra wide wheels. This gives a lot of float. There's no sitting and digging holes. This thing just takes off. The drawback is that turning is kind of hard, but when riding the big stuff, that really isn't much of an issue.

The guys who were chasing me in the dunes said they were constantly having to shift. Once they missed a shift, I was gone. That was my big advantage. I would also argue that I was more confortable overall. The V has awesome ergonomics. If the terrain gets technical in the dunes (witch eyes, etc), a V rider is going to get more of a workout because of the weight. I haven't raced a YFZ or TRX at Glamis, but did ride with a TRX at Ocotillo Wells. We were running through some high-speed washes. That Honda was modded and fast, but it wasn't running away by any means. And for the Z-400, well, he'll just try and keep up.

Most of us who own a V find the auto-tranny is one of its best traits. You're always in the right gear. And this bike makes so much horsepower that any power robbing from the CVT is virtually nullified. With a stock clutch spring, the bike can crawl around a low speed technical trail. Throw in an HPD plain or Orange/Blue and you're ready to blast down the drag strip. And with dual pipes, there's no other quad that makes a sound like a V.
