Default Reliability of BigBore Kits?

For all of you that have done the Bigbore kits or High compression pistons & finally got them dialed in. What are some of the problems you encountered & now having hind-sight what would you do differently.

Windage is a problem with the BBK's

and the Stock Carbs are NOT totally capable of fueling this motor.

gas mileage is alot worse as well.

the problem with the carbs are, you can't put in big enough jets. i've jetted all the way up just screwing in the threads with no more room to drill and my a/f ratio is still on the lean side.
as far as problems, none except the carbs and this quad get ridden by a few people and raced by a couple more and its been through 2 seasons.

Default Reliability of BigBore Kits?

I can't speak for anyone else, but I believe I've read some posts by Prairiewrench, Mike W (aka newbeetle) and Steve-O and all 3 reported at one time or another that they had some kind of problem with radiator fluid leaking into the motor oil or onto the ground...which I thought was supposedly caused by problems with the cylinder sleeves or something like that. To be fair, I'm guessing this may have been a problem caused by local machine shops who installed thes sleeves and not necessarily a flaw in the BBK. Hopefully, some of those folks I mentioned will post here and give us more details on their problems.

Happy trails...

I think reliability is ok, just not great. Mine is still heating up more than I would like. I love it though and woud do again in a second. I should in fairness tell you I would not do it again if it were my only quad.

But its a heck of alot of fun, Its able to outrun any stock sport quad built, and alot of modded sport quads too.

Mine is a beast... for competition, ( drag racing ), there is nothing better, however for woods it is too much, there is way more power than there is suspension & brakes... & yes, mine has been plagued with problems of leaking coolant into the oil... I haven't pulled my engine down, because it runs so strongly, but I find that I have to change oil very often, as I monitor it for coolant...

Honestly, & I mean no disrespect to any of the big bore guy's, If I was going to do it all over, I'd just do a CDI & Nitrous, & will likely do that on my next quad, & like 1999 said, I wouldn't want the BBK, on my only quad....
