Mod's?
#1
Hey fellows, I'm new to this forum and have a question about modifications........I have a 2002 650 Prairie that is still pretty basic and I am by no means a mechanic or very knowledgable about any of this. The only thing that I've done to it was put mudzilla's and a highlifter kit on it. I mounted a 2500 Ramsey winch, but up high between the headlights instead of down low. I also put in a K&N air filter just recently, but I am uncertain about that because I was told that it may cause problems sucking in too much dust. Anyway, I want to go a little bit further and add a Dynatek Ignition system, Clutch Kit, and maybe change the exhaust. Now I was looking at the different brands out there and there are just so many. Also, I can't decide if I want a slip-on or the entire system. I was thinking of a slip-on for now.........maybe a HMF, FMF, Big Gun, or SuperTrapp. One of our local shops suggested HMF and said that it was used by "Team Kawasaki". Any suggestions? I guess that I'm looking for peak power on my 650 without buying a new one and starting over. I also own a Prairie 700, but that belongs to the Mrs.......I don't think that I'll be doing any mod's to it for a while.

My prairie 650 is running a procircut exhaust, Dyna CDI , K & N filter, DG snorkel.
Dyna CDI - best gains for the money
K & N Filter - Next best gains have used K & N in everthing I own for over 10 years never had any problems
Procicut exhaust - great sound replaced the IDSX slip on, just like having stainless head pipes and the better sounding procircut
DG snorkel - pain in the but to put on and realy didn't notice a thing as far as power gains
The CDI realy helps the 650. It runs as strong or stronger than the stock 700's
I have these same modds on my 700's plus dyna jet kits and univented air box lids
I have yet to get into the clutch seen but from what I have learned about them, it may be a good Idea for you since you are running big, heavy tires.
