Default My Next BF 750 Mods. Thoughts?

Here are my thoughts on my next mods. Comments, opinions welcome.

Lets start with what I have.

BF 750. 27” MudLites, DG Tie Rods & Bayou Snorkel. 95% of the bikes use is for muddin and when I rains we have lots of water.

The snorkel is a great mod for any BF. This kit uses a 2” air box intake pipe. I did not re-jet nor do I feel I have to. I did try reducing the 2” intake to 1.5” and the bike sputters under full throttle. Using the 2” pipe I have a little miss during warm up. But what V-Twin Harley doesn’t ? So the bike is running great at his point. No misses or problems through the power band.

Here is what I’d like to do now, but keeping in mind possible options later.

Clutch Kit - Dalton kit with weights. This looks like a great mod to add more power to the ground and help belt wear and slippage specially for the kind of ridin I do. It seems the orange/blue spring w/ weights works well, but I’ve not researched that enough.

A “Chip” – WOW, what a tough decision and ssooo many opinions. I believe I’ve decided to use the DG5….maybe. here’s why.
- HL ICM. This seems to be an electronic device that kinda tricks the bike and improving low and mid range power. Although it works well and has a great price, I’ve read somewhere that this device lacks some electrical safety features.
- Dyna CDI. Possibly the best device but really seems like a crap shoot on how well it works. At this point I do not want to get into jetting, needles or shims, ect. I may do an exhaust system down the road and will visit jetting + then. Also the lack of customer service comments from more than one person on different forums turns me off. Excellent customer service is what the company I work for strives for. Plus the price and the fact I’m not looking to break my neck @ 75 mph, I can do that @ 65 mph just fine.
- DG5. Similar to the HL ICM but possible more electrical advanced. Plus an on/off switch. Could be useful at times. Also have read no problems or complaints with DG.

These 2 mods are in preparation for possibly putting on 29.5 and a Penland exhaust system later this year.

Thoughts? Comments? Am I missing something?

Thanks
R

I went thru the same thing about chips. I wired the DG5 so it is out of sight so I look stock. I've had it to the dealer 2 times and they dont even know its there. The power is much more than I thought I would get for the cost. I would make it the 1st mods. I liked the plug in cdi but saved enough money to buy other stuff. Seems like a lot of cdi people have had issues or had to rejet over again which looks not so easy on the bf. If you hide your dg5 and race people, let me know what they say.
