chain .... how tight or loose

Default chain .... how tight or loose

on the mojave how tight should you have the chain ? my mind is slipping lately any help please

i think there should be a half of an inch to an inch of play. if you tighten it and it still slpis then your sprockets are bad. if you look at them and the tips of the teeth are pointy and not flat then they are wasted

Default chain .... how tight or loose

Heres a little tip I learned from a buddy of mine (atleast on dirtbikes this works). If you can fit 2 fingers between the chain and swingarm, you are ok. I asume that would also work for atv's. Usually you have to sit on the atv and check the tension on the chain cause you gotta take into account if you ramp your atv. Check the chain with as much weight as possible on the atv so you don't snap your chain.

The specs are 1.35-1.97 inches of slack with no weight on the atv.

ive got new sprockets front and back i also know chain tightness is a factor for keeping a sprocket in good condition thanks for the help
