Default who does it there self

hey, i have an 04 360 4x4 and i was just wondering who in here does there own belt adjustments. Ive been looking on nyrocs site and was wondering if the shim procedure applies to my 360 tranny. I think it should. Also, if you have done it, how hard is it to do. I have nyrocs site and a service manual for reference. Do you have any suggestions or tips. My belt has been fine, i have about 125 hours on it and its problly close to getting a little attention. thanks.

Belt Adjustment is not hard.

Hardest thing is removing and replacing snap-ring on Secondary spring. Use NYrocs instructions for making Clutch tool but use a 2" metal cap instead of the PVC. PVC tends to spread even with a Zip around base.

You'll also need a heavy-duty set of snap-ring pliers that has the ends as part of plier. Got mine from Oriley. The Snap ring is hard to open and close and the pliers that have the slip in inserts break/are not strong enough. CUt a H cut-out in the cap that allows you to open pliers fully and also insert a screwdriver from other side to hold down snap ring (when installing).

Your secondary has buttons that hold the two sheaves together, don't misplace them. Alignment mark on sheaves is to aid in reassembly of buttons.

Get a permanent marker/sharpie and mark an alignment mark on surface of both secondary sheaves (over one side and down the other) and notice/mark direction of your drive belt before you remove it.

12" 3/8" rachet braced against frame with drive in round hole of secondary will hold clutch in place. Use Long breaker bar to loosen Nut on Secondary. Didn't have any luck with impact wrench. Washers behind secondary nut are beveled and go on/off in one direction.

Just like tuff said. The secondary bolt is a 27mm so if you dont have one that big get it before you start.

If you like pictures this is a good place to look. Belt shim procedure

hey tuffenuf, I have a 650, what happens if the sheaves are not put together the same way, what I mean is if you do not mark the sheaves when taking apart. I put it back together and put the little pucks in but did not take notice of the sheave line up, is there marks made from manufacturer or does it matter as long as you get the little pucks in, and put together. Thanks

I believe it insures that its not out of balance. Being out of balance is bad, hurts bushings ect.

The process is identical to the p650 & p700. Its easy to do if you have the time and tools. I just did our 360 and 700 and we have about 125 hours on our 360 and the belt is about done for as i'm now running no shims to keep it in spec - must be how my wife rides...

As far as suggestions/tips take you time and enjoy. Consider spring changes while you are in there...

CSMALLMAN

As Rivermud said may be a balance issue?

I've found that making the alignment marks on the sheaves makes it easier to align sheaves back to factory setting & get all your buttons back in quickly.
