Default 750 CDI

I have had a Brute 750 for about three months now, it has eleven hours on it, and have scheduled for it to be serviced. I am very happy with it's power however it can never have too much. I was wondering about putting a aftermarket CDI on it is it worth it? Whose make to go with? and Does it void warranty? I had also read about people haveing to splice wires to hook up their CDI, however i thought it was a direct plug in, maybe somebody can shed some light on that for me. Thanks.

DynaTek offers a plug and play CDI for the Brute. However, they have had a lot of problems w/ their CDI's lately, especailly for the Brute. I recommend that you don't get one.

Velocity Modules is supposed to be releasing a Programmable CDI for the V-Twins in the next month or so. It will be about $200 and sounds very nice.

Their are also the HL ICM and Diamond G DG5 which are modules. They do require splicing on the Harness. I have the DG5 and it works great! Over 7 rwhp was reported on a Dyno Run w/ their Module. It's about $140 or so. I highly recommend it.

I tried the Dynatek CDI on my Brute and wasn't able to get it to run right. It constantly had a very bad miss. I had a jet kit installed and tried tuning it throughout all the perimeters of the Jet kit and it was still no good. I sold it and got the DG5.

DG5 module

Go to the above website if you want to order the DG5. It isn't on their website so you must call them.

If you don't get it, then I'd wait for the Velocity Module CDI to come out.

I'll give you my vote for the dg5. I mount it so it's hid so when I race and beat somebody, they look and thinks its stock! I've been to my dealer and they are clueless to. I looked at the highliter module, it was cheap but it was, cheap! I mean it is the oldest kind of module with no way to tell it's working and you have to buy and wire your own switch. I also called some places and could only talk to dg5 designeer at DG racing. All the others like HL just give you to salesman or tech that couldn't tell me any more than how it hook uped. I didn't want to spend $250+ for the dyno cdi and sometimes it goes bad, gives people issues or makes them rejet to work. The new cdi sounds good but it looks like it keeps getting pushed further back again and again so who really knows.

Another vote here for the Dyna and the brute, no complaints. Awesome power, even with the 28" zillas.

I've had two different modules on my 02 650. I finally bought the Dyna CDI. It gave more top speed and better acceloration. I got the dyna for my BF and couldn't be happier.
