after market CDI box

Default after market CDI box

Could somebody tell me who makes the best aftermarket CDI box,( and the cost) for the Brute 750? Also what kind of performance gains am I going ton see?

I have had the same question. I can not decide between a CDI or one of those modules like the DG5.

I have the h/l module, and it is absolutely awsome. From my understanding it just advances the timing on the low end. This thing is an absolute wheelie machine, but it did not effect the top end at all. After i get my clutch done and a few other odd, and ends I will be getting the CDI b/c of the fact that you no longer have to push the reverse override button, and it advances the timing throughout the entire rpm range, not just the bottom end.

From the looks of it, Velocity Devices is going to be coming out with a programmable CDI in about June. That is what a lot of people are waiting on, because it is programmable. Dynatek offers one that has shown positiveperformance gains, advancing timing to 33*. Dyna has been suffering from several complaints of bad CDI's over the past few months. It seems to be either hit or miss with them. Both CDI's will cost about $250. You would probably be better off waiting for the VDI CDI, but if you get a good one from DYNA you will not be disappointed. If I had $250 to spare I wouldprobably just get me a Dyna and hope for the best. Good luck in your decision.

I have a Dyna. Nice enhancement. It's not like adding a supercharger. The machine is muck perkier. Runs cooler and burns a tad less gas.
I had one of the first run units that had start up and shut down kick back. If she did not fire up on the first try it would kick back, and sometimes when you shut it off too. Kind of like how older Harley's kick starters used to break legs if the rider jumped on the compression in the stroke. I believe the Prairies do not fire on the first revolution to prevent kick back, saving components like timiing chains and such.
Sent it back and got an improved unit.
They take care of you no questions asked. Sometimes it may take a few weeks to get the newer run unit but you have your OE unit to run in the meantime.
Hey, they are relatively new and don't like it any more than we do when a few bad ones get by. If they did a super intensive R&D we would still be waiting on them.

After lots of reading, I went with the dg5. 1st had to pick cdi or module, than which one. Maybe this new cdi will work better but is suspeciuos cause they keep putting off the release date? Dyna seems to take care of bad ones but why do they happen anyway? I thought electronics were always tested and burn in to check for bad things. I also dont want to rejet or have any miss crop up. I heard the dyna cdi dont know when the belt is loose, no belt light so you wont no and could have a wreck if not careful. As far as the modules go, it has to be the dg5 hands down. It has the best features built in and added over 7 horses to a stock bf750. Plus it was the only company that I could ask the engineer question about my Brute. All I got from highlifter was sales people. If you want another 2 or 3 mph, and an extra $100 and possible issues than go with a cdi. I wanted more power, but reliabililty and keeping my stock apearence and safety features was important to. Just my 3 cents.

I'm running the Dynatek and I haven't had a bit of problems with it. awesome mod if you can afford it. the only downside to the modules versus the direct plug-in CDI boxes is that you have to splice into the wiring harness to add the module and it then becomes apparent you modified it, thus voiding your warranty. You KNOW how Kawasaki likes to void your warranty! the biggest advantage to one of the modules versus the CDI box is that if the module fails, you just drop back to your stock CDI box and keep going. If the Dynatek box fails, you are screwed so I carry my original CDI box around with me.

When I get the cash I will be getting the Dynatek unless the new VDI is impressive. I like the CDI better than the module because I don't want the belt light to come on and put me in "limp mode" when on the trails. Plus I like the plug and play capability. I'm sold on the Dynatek despite their recent problems. There are tons of people running the Dyna with out a problem and the recent buyers who are having problems are getting taken care of as Dynatek works out all the problems.
