700 V force Belt Replace
My 2004 V Force has the belt light on (How do I reset it?). I want to replace the belt but am not sure wheather to have a dealership install it or do it myself. If I perform this myself how difficult is it? Exactly what tools do I need (from Kawasaki etc, and the price)? Secondly, do you reccomend a clutch kit If I only trail ride, if so which one is the best? Last, Ever since the bike was new I had a metallic screeching sound while climbing up hills from the belt housing. I had it looked at by a dealer and they said they removed the clutch to remove a contacting windage deflector. The noise is still there, what can I do to correct this? Thanks for any help
Brian.

700 V force Belt Replace
Pull the belt cover off and flip the belt switch on the top side of cover to the other direction.
Use a Kawie belt only, Dayco belts won't last long. No tools needed once belt cover removed.
Just watch your finger when you pull the belt off the rear clutch and turn the front while removing belt until it slides off. Install new belt on ft clutch (drive clutch) first, then put it on the rear (driven clutch) clutch a little at at time, watch your fingers, while turning ft clutch.
Check tention of belt. after belt is installed turn engine over with ft cutch until belt is at top of rear clutch.
Belt deflection inbetween clutches should be about 3/4", If the belt squeels sitting in gear, its perfect. Just put in netural when you stop. ( as long as the belt isn't 1/4 or 1/2") If the belt is too loose, then the rear clutch has to come apart and remove a shim. This takes a clutch tool, snap ring plyers and a little knowledge.
