I am just wondering how long you think it takes for the v-twins to need a rebuild. I know they are very reliable just as the singles are. How long should last befor the rebuild is needed. How many miles do you have on yours.

 

There is soooooooooooooo many variables to this question that there is no way anybody can answer it. An hour or two with a bad aircleaner will do an engine in.
Most people worry about oil; (what kind, bla bla bla) not me. I think an aircleaner is THE MOST important thing to keep an eye on.
I don't think I will be able to put enough hours on my V to see a rebuild.

Yes you did. Take 2 pills and call again 20 yrs from now. I agree with you on the air cleaner....I spray white grease on the airbox cover, it picks up a lot of dirt.

Has more hours on it than any other engine for play I've owned. Kids for years, adults in CO. after they crashed Dirt Bikes. Still runs, bought new in '84 and never rebuilt and still wheelie you over backwards.
Only thing ever done is clutch springs and carb replacement, and two spark plugs.
