Default What about the little guys?

What with the EPA mandate of 2006 with 2- strokes going the way of the Dinosaurs then. What will become of our dearly beloved KFX 50 and 80?

It's my understanding that dirt bikes will still be sold because they can be cited as closed course only machines, where as atvs for whatever reason cannot.

Hmm- interesting loophole. I guess there will be few enough bikes to let go with the 2-strokes engine. But that still leaves the little quads out in the cold. Will they possibly let under a certain cc limit thru the door as intended riders that age don't ride all that much anyhow and not as aggressively? Can the EPA possibly have a heart after all?

You could argue that the 50-90cc mini atvs are for closed course only, since its currently not legal in many states for children under the age of 16 to ride on public lands, or 12 in some cases. But I'm not sure how its all going to end up.
