Primary Spring, I know again... :-(
But hey I've done the search thing, looked at KOD's site and still unsure plus there's new ones out now.
...Anyway I want to improve the all around performance, the only limiting factor is I plow snow with it. Mostly ride trails, a combination of fast, technical and extreme with some mud and hills.
I believe these are my choices: Which one is the best do all spring?
Maroon (Dalton)
Orange & Blue (Dalton)
Red (EPI)
I already have the black secondary and will be installing a new 700 belt with whatever spring. Wanted to get user's opinions before I call the manufacturers.
Thanks!

I have an '03 P650. Of the springs you mention, I have tried the EPI Red. I like it for atv pull competitions and drag racing. I do not like it for trail riding. I find the engagement too harsh. W/ the EPI Red, and my other modifications, the quad will literally flip over if you nail the throttle on pavement. That is w/ 26" Mudlites and a winch. For general riding, I am currently running a P700 primary spring w/ one shim and like it very much. I will probably add one more shim to increase the engagement rpms another 100 or so. Hopefully, someone else can give you information on the other two springs you are asking about, but I would definetely recommend the P700 spring. Better engagement than the P650 spring, but not harsh at all.

I will second the vote for the p700 primary spring.... i've been running it for awhile now and i love it! I did put in the plain spring with the white stripe.... didn't like it to much, sounded like the p was gonna explode doin 40 mph. Oh yea im currently running one .6mm shim. And of course like most everyone else i have the black spring in back.

Man, that EPI red is a pretty harsh spring.....if you're plowing on ice, will spin on you (BTW, I think the maroon is EPI also). Also have to be careful with the throttle going up a hill with the red.
My friend and I are going to test some springs when the weather cooperates.
Somebody posted that with the orange/blue, his EBC would go into free wheel at slow speed when idling down a steep slope. He would have to give it gas for it to re-engage, then repeat, or stay on the brake. Takes away idling down a hill w/o brakes, which is just about the best feature of our Prairies imo.
The pink or maroon is what EPI recommends for our bikes. I do like the pink on my P650, close to stock, but gives the bike noticeably better performance.
I'm going to put in a Dalton blue for now, just because it's what I have on hand, and it's close to stock.
P.S. adirondac/2003P650: Thanks for your input. Since I am just testing anyway, I also am going to put in a couple of shims behind the stock spring and see how it feels.

right now i have the black secondary, and the p700 primary with 2 shims on my p650. i like it a whole lot better than the stock setup. it has plenty of low end power. i cant tell if the second shim done too much though, but i like it the way it is, so im gonna leave it. i can wheelie in high, low, or reverse easy. i dont know why, but my top speed is around 58. i can hit 60 but really have to push it. maybe i need to put my new belt on.

muddog,
Don't know why you are only hitting 58-60... Some Prairies are faster than others. Mine will hit 68 mph w/ 26" mudlites. I do have a Dynatek CDI, but I would hit 65-66 w/ the stock CDI. Is your air filter very dirty, your quad might be starving for air. Also, is your exhaust clear? If mud, carbon, etc. builds up in the exhaust, it will hurt performance. Unless your belt is VERY LOOSE, it should not hurt top speed. Rather, it would hurt bottom end as it would slip. Don't get me wrong, your belt should be adjusted to spec, but if you used to get a much higher top speed, it may be something other than a loose belt.
