Why you should where a helmet
#5
I second that for a helmet ,yesterday my dad rolled his ,the helmet saved his head from the 500 sportsman that hit him twice, but it broke his pelvis and he had to be life flighted to the hospital .I think if he did`nt have on a helmet he would`nt be here. This is his second big accident on his atv the first was in marrienville pa. at the tour de forest ride when he was life flighted from there with a broken shoulder ,back, cheeck bone, and fluid on his brain this wreck the helmet deffinitly saved him.He says he is done riding after this one ,he is 59 and can`t do it anymore.

Al1: I am older than your dad and can still do it. There's a couple of guys in our club 75 or older, damn good riders too. Does your dad take too many chances or what's the story on his wrecks. Would hate to see him give up something he really likes because he rides wild. He can change the way he rides or get a less powerful and lighter bike. Just asking.
Very sorry to hear about his injuries.

He is going to be laid up for 3 months minimum, hes had other wrecks besides these also broken rib on one, smashed his hand at hatfield/mccoy,rolled and was pinned against a tree on another,He does`nt know how to take a hill and he sits all the way on the back of the seat and they flip on him due to the way he sits and he gets into the throttle at the "wrong" time.Time will tell if he will give it another shot he has said twice before he was done and started riding again so we will see. He`s also been through a few different atv`s first 500 sportsman (wreck at mareinville)second sportsman 500 (got tired of) third gizzly(broken rib) forth arcticcat 650 (smashed hand & pinned against tree) fifth sportsman 500(broken pelvis in two places) .
