Default Brute won't fire up

I drowned out the Brute today on our ride. Water came up the tail pipe and flooded the motor. Got it home, changed the oil once so far and changed the plugs. All it does is turn over, it won't fire.

I looked at the carbs through the airbox and it looks like there is oil and water mixed together in there, it happens when you get water in your oil. If I slap some carb cleaner in there do you think that would help clear that crap out? If not, what will? Can I pour straight gas into the carbs? Do you think this is my problem?

The airbox was almost waterless, it never sucked any water in through the air filter or any debris.

Any ideas? The dealer said to change the plugs and it should fire up. I'm going to try and swap back to my old CDI, just to see if that helps any. Thanks for any help anyone can provide!

It runs now, the carbs had crap in them. There also seemed to be some more water in her somewhere. I was turning it over, throwing in some carb cleaner, turning it over, etc. I look back after I got the quad running some what and see a huge wet spot on my garage floor and all over my other quad.

Changed the oil 3 times, I don't have any oil filters so I'll have to get one and change the oil again next week when I get back. I also think my CDI is acting up, the Dyna CDIs have been known to screw up out of the blue.

So its all good now. The oil looked good, had nothing in it, the water that pumped out of the exhaust was dirty but not grainy from sand or anything.

that is good news, glad you got it fired up! My dad ALMOST drowned his prarie on a ride, but at the last minute he jumped off of it, which i thought was kind of odd, but then I noticed it bobbing up and down. We threw him a tow rope. Sure enough, the damn thing was floating! My dad is about 6'2' and the water was up to his shoulders, and the prarie looked like it was touching the bottom! Might be worth a try next time you think its going under, just jump off! lol

Dont forget to drain and clean your cvt , belt, & clutches with brake cleaner, drain your recoil starter, & if the Brute has a rear storage compartment drain it also. Your muffler has a drain plug. Run with the muffler drain plug out 20 or 30 minutes. Also check to see if your air snorkel and air box has a drain line & drain them

Autozone carries Bosh, mobile one, & Purolator oil Filters & Oriley carries the Wix that will fit the Prairie & should also fit the Brute. Do a search on can you get it at walmart.

Hey Brent you finally sunk it EH, lol. Looking through your vidieos I was wondering how long it would take for you to go under. Hope your machine runs better quads don't run very good on H2O, lol. You wouldn't be working on a new type of engine that separates Hydrogen from water are you just have to regulate how much water enters your intake, lol. Seriously hope everything is alright are you going to include the vidieo of the submarine factor into your site?

LOL, I usually jump off the quad before it dies but this was my first water hole of the year and I totally forgot what to do. I should of jumped off but I just stood up on the footpegs and did nothing.

I'm trying to rethink my snorkle system but I think no matter what, I need to use 3" PVC. My damn outwears prefilter doesn't seem to let enough air in for the brute to run properly.

hehe, it was worth a try. Free gas would be nice, especially in Canada. I don't plan to sink it again this year, I've learned my lesson.
