ticking near primary
#1
03 P650 70 hours I notice a ticking that increases with speed/vibration. Seems to be around the primary but its difficult to tell. Anyone have ideas, or does theirs do that as well? Is it the kbec?
Thanks

Is it a ticking or a knocking? If it's a ticking and it increases as engine speed increases, it could be time to set your valves. Any knocking sounds from the CVT is usually sheave bushings or wear shoes, but the sound goes away when you get on the gas. Probably valves.

I dont notice it while at idle, so I dont think its the valves, although a good thought. I just notice it while under 4mph or so. It does increase with speed, its a light ticking. Made me try and find a weed stalk in the wheels type sound. Seems to be around that primary or ebc.
Is there any simple way to look in the ebc and see if there is some crap in there?

Plainsman, there is an easy way to have a look in the EBC to see if anything is in there. Quit being so damn lazy and take off the CVT cover!!!!!! LOL!!!!! That's the only way to get it done. Last time I took my cover off, I had leaves and a little stick crammed in there.

I have looked in the cover, nothing unusual. I searched more and think it could be in the kbec housing, but it quit for now so Im happy.
On a side note I pulled the belt wire, turned it on so I triggered the 100 hour light. My 03 does go into limp mode, arg.
