Default 05 Brute Force with strange problem

My 05 starts and runs ok. Spits and sputters at times but when I am cruising at 20-25mph and pin the throttle it hesitates and makes a bellowing sound and runs like I am getting on and off on the throttle when I am not. I have not had the carb. needle recall changed yet as it is due for that in the am. I am getting my rump kicked out on the trail with my fellow club members. I trust you guys more then I do the dealership as I have taken it to them once for this and the replaced both plugs and charged me $53.00 and said Good Luck. Help me please!! P.S I do put over 100 miles a day on my bike when ride in the Coal mines.

I also broke a tie rod end after only 200 miles. Has nothing to do with the miss or bellowing noise but wanted to let you guys know about that also. Bought new parts off Ebay!!

dude it sounds like your dealer is f***ing you you need to have the front needle replaced and check your plugs again as i guarantee your plugs are black as coal. when you get it back after your needle replacemant double check and make sure they changed your plugs(or at least checked them) adjust your idle a little bit half turn is sufficient if not a little to much when adjusting if done right you should be able to get a 1/4 to 1/2 turn out of it WITHOUT being able to hear a chane in your idle if you hear a change in your idle you went to far

Well your right!! I am getting the BIG SHAFT out of these clowns. With promises of "its at the top of the list of bikes to do" or "I am getting right on it" and now "it may get done tomorrow". Thats what the female wrench told me today. Shes the one the changed out 2 plugs and charged me $53. I am still fuming over that as I am the cheapest guy I know. I hope its done as I have other mods coming for it and I need it for the big ride next Saturday in PA. When I get it back I will try what you suggested!!!

BF came back today. I wasn't happy with the run around that I received. I did however get them to refund me my money that I had originally spent and did get a apology. I guess I should consider that a blessing. I rode it around for awhile and it seems better. I wont know for sure until I take it up to the PA mountains. As luck would have it I leave here in about 3 hours to explore more trails in the Frackville area. Thats all I have for now as its 0012am and I need some rest.

That back plug is buried back there.. you guys have any idea what would be wrong with a brute force that doesnt want to run over 30mph and bogs, hesitates, spits and sputters. The guy buried it in muddy water and the carbs got a taste of it and clogged the pilot holes in the rear carb, cleaned them up spotless and it still hesitates and sputters, can get it up to 40mph but still runs like chit..

Changing plugs now.

Do you ride with the speedballs? 100 miles a day, it sure sounds like it. I been riding with them for 10 years, only get out with them once or twice a year now - its all I can handle

I did the same thing this past weekend.

Are you sure both carbs are draining? Only my rear would drain, the front did not, i had to clean it very well even to get it to drip.

To change the rear plug, I pulled the battery, then pulled the batter tray. The plug will be beside the intake for the tranny. It is tricky to get too, but you can change it just by taking the tray out. Make sure you blow the dirt and stuff out before you take the plug out, this way you dont drop dirt and crap out.

I would let the carbs drain a good while, take the hoses off and make sure they are draining, not just through the hose.
