Default 2004 KFX 700 Recall

Just got a letter in the mail today....

____________________________________

Dear Kawasaki ATV Owner:

2004 KSV700-A1/B1 models come equipped with a belt-driven Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). The automatic drive system, although simple to operate, does require periodic inspection since the drive belt wears with normal use.

These vehicles include an hour meter that illuminates the Belt Check Indicator light when the vehicle has been used for 100 hours indicating the drive belt and clutches must be inspected for wear.

This letter is sent to notify you that on some eligible units, the Belt Check Indicator Light may not be able to be reset after completting the required maintenance. Our records indicate that you have bought one of these units.

Kawasaki has initiated a Factory Directed Modification campaign to repair all affected units. The repair will consist of inspecting and replacing the igniter if it is among the affected batch.

This repair will be made by an authorized Kawasaki ATV dealer at no charge. Please call your Kawasaki dealer to schedule an appointment and take this letter with you at that time. If you no longer have the vehicle described in this letter, or it has been repaired, please help us update records by calling Kawasaki toll free at (866) 802-9381 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. PT Monday through Friday.

We are sorry for any inconvenience, but we have taken this action in your best interest and continued satisfaction with your Kawasaki ATV. Please contact your dealer if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A
