Default standing the machine on end

I want to stand my quad on it's back end like I see in the magazines but I am scared that I will mess something up. Is there something I have to do to the bike before doing this or will it not hurt the bike just to stand it up for a while. (should I enpty the carb or shut the gas valve or anything else? One of my bikes is a 2003 KFX400 and the other is a 1996 Polaris 400 sport. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!!!

I don't think there is anything to do on the KFX, there is no fuel "off" position so it should be no problem. The Polaris probably has an "off" position for the fuel, in which case you should turn it off. Beyond that there should be no problems.
