Can i use 5w-30 oil in my KFX? My dad just bought is and said it was fine.. should I use it? isn't the recommended like 30w?

10w 40 is the best all around but check ur owners manuel or if you dont have one look on kawasaki.com and it will tell you what weights you could use for ur kfx

 

From the Kawasaki KFX400 owner's Manual:

Use a good quality SAE10-40 multigrade motor oil or an equivalent good quality oil rated SF ofr SG under the API classification system. Use the chart to select a viscosity rating based on the temperature range in your area.

20W-50 = (-10 +)
15W-40/15W-50 = (-15 +)
10W-40/10W-50 = (-20 +)
10W-30 = (-20 - 30)
5W-30 = (-30 - 30)

The thing is, If you run the **** out of your KFX, and its hot outside . . . that oil is gonna break down alot quicker. I run 10W-40 in the winter and 20W-50 in the summer. Oil is oil . . . to an extent, but 5w-30 is for the arctic!
